The report is being written to explain the different types of business information that could be used in the organisation. It was requested that it includes how they are used as well as their sources.
Procedure
To collect the information interviews were held with the representatives of each sector in the Tesco organisation. The interview took place in one of their own private rooms (which they use for Selection and Recruitment) over a period of one hour.
Findings
Firstly, the forms of business information was discussed; verbal, paper based and on-screen. Verbal was discussed first. They use it in the forms of face to face and phone the most. Verbal information is used for announcements and meetings. Next was paper based, which is used for contacts [related] and pay slips the most. On-screen was last and it was used for the more informal information, such as upcoming events and staff deals on TV’s in the staff room and staff reception. They also shared how two of the types were used for one specific aspect of Tesco; discipline. Their disciplinary routine has three steps. The first step is an informal verbal warning is delivered. The second is a formal verbal warning. The third is a formal written warning. That is one example of how they use the types of business information.
