There are many positives and negatives to being regulated, some of which I’m going to take to you about…
Constructive criticism is something that should come out of all regulations, they should receive feed back on what they need to improve and how to do it, this is a very positive aspect of regulations because it improves the service.
However…
Not all regulations have constructive criticism if a regulator is biest, then it can cause a regulator to be to strict or lenient on a service. Both have a negative effect not only on the service but on the service users which can sometimes be realty vulnerable people like children in care. For example if a regulator is to lenient the service won’t make the improvement needed to aid …show more content…
the services users because they have not been told. But if the regulator is to strict and highlights issues that aren’t there the regulator could undo all the hard work the services do and actually the improvement the service has to make under their advice could really damage the service.
A good aspect about regulators is they give staff that work in the service and client that use the service a voice. This really helps the service because it means they know how the servicer users see the service and what they want to be added etc. This gives the opportunely for the service to go because the know what the client needs!
On the other hand…
Some regulators can have a negative effect on the individuals by generalising or marginalising them causing them to feel stressed as if they have been put on the spot.
This has a negative effect on the service they may feel they can’t return to said service because if they do it will result in more question etc… what you have to remember these are vaunarebel people who may not be capable of making a positive contribution to the regulation and they may just feel pressured. This has a negative impact because client may feel they can’t return due to fear low self-esteem etc.. Which could then result in the service having to …show more content…
close.
A really positive aspect of regulations is the problems the regulators detect without them said problem could escalate or go un-noticed which could put someone at risk. When problems are detected the regulator can then try to resolve the situation by offering training give advice and/or give support. This is a fantastic aspect to regulations because it really builds the path for improvement it gives staff a helping hand which the staff feel comphy with, at the end of the day happy staff makes a really positive service which ensure client needs are met.
Although….
A lot of people feel when a regulator regulates a service they work to a time limit which may lead to a misrepresentation of the service. They may miss something important or they may find problems that are not normally there ether one can be potentially damming to a service. If they miss something it could result in someone getting hurt or harmed ect…
Regulators can put new regulations in place to improve services. This is good for all services that are effected because it puts their service users in the best possible position. A regulates job above all is to safeguard service users by putting new regulations in place it ensures the clients safety which has a really positive effect on the service because it makes the client feel valued.
But…
Some services “put on a show” they stage their service to look like something it’s not. This has a really negative effect on the service and its users because no valid improvement can be made. So the service users may lose faith in the services resulting in the service shutting
down.
When looking as a whole at regulations I conclude that all the positives of regulations out way the negatives. The first and main priority should be the service user and regulations put the clients first to get rid of regulations would be absurd where would the improvement come from? Where would new legislation come from? Regulations are the way forward. There the only way to even hazard a geass at how a service is doing and if its client are safare
