Unit 7 Discussion: Copyright and its Various Owner Rights
Violation of your copyright privileges, and how you feel knowing that thousands of users are simply copying and sharing your composition, for which they may have paid for otherwise (Handout, 2014)
By downloading and sharing on P2P networks monies are lost
The composition is original work, and by law if people want it they should pay.
Enabling your case as a consideration in the purview of “fair use” under the law (Handout, 2014)
It isn’t used by an institution for education purpose (17 U.S. Code § 107 - Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use, n.d.)
That the whole composition is shared (17 U.S. Code § 107 - Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use, n.d.)
Also what it will do to the revenue for the composer (17 U.S. Code § 107 - Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use, n.d.)
Your feeling about the reduction in your expected income from your creative efforts that you will face due to the unethical and illegal file sharing technology (Handout, 2014)
I personally will not be able to enjoy being compensated for my work
Just because it is available, doesn’t make it right
Time that I spent composing it is for none, since I can’t be compensated
Hard work to make it original, took time and my own money
I will not be reimbursed by anyone
Legal remedies that you will be seeking (Handout, 2014)
Civil suit against all involved
Just as it is easy to find and download illegally, so is to find out who did it Civil penalties for copyright infringement
