Introduction
In this assignment I am going to talk about the most significant environmental legislations and codes of practice for farmers and land owners. I will also describe the impact of these on farming practices. In this assignment I am going to explain the role of three selected environmental organisations within the agriculture industry. At least one of these will be a government body, and another a charitable organisation.

Nitrogen Vulnerable Zones-NVZ’s
Defra has designated areas as NVZs, in agreement with the EC Nitrates Directive, in order to reduce nitrogen loss from agriculture to water. Farmers within NVZs are required to comply with measures in the Nitrates Action Programme. Also because badgers can kill young stock such as lambs and also chickens, the farmers will be losing stock and therefore money because they cannot kill the badgers. Badgers are known to be carriers of TB, this factor is very controversial and is very popular in the media however if the badgers are living on land near to cattle stock then it can increase the risk of the herd catching TB, as the farmers are not allowed to remove/destroy the badgers then it is increasing the herds risk to catching TB, this is a significant problem throughout the UK and can have an impact throughout the whole of the dairy
