Not many are lucky to have paid all their debt by the time they graduate. Colleges and universities have given students the ability to work around the campus in order to pay for their education. Although this seems like a positive effect to help students pay and try to minimize debt, work is bound to get in the way of education. As students worry about having money in their pockets and scavenge any type of job they can find in or around the campus, they put aside their studies and their capability to perform in class is diminished. In his article, Hoover is able to capture a statement made by Ashley Dawson, an English professor at the College of Staten Island, regarding how work affects students ability to work in class and colleges maintaining…

For example, in the article, Peter Cappelli, in an interview says that parents, students, and employers are often worried about finding work after graduation (Wharton,2015). This means students are worried about finding a job after graduation because they are not prepared for work. Author Kate Rogers, in her article, says that “employers don’t feel college is preparing students for the workforce (73%)” (Rogers, 2014). This mean 73 percent of employee feel colleges not prepare students for work. Adult learners seeking a degree as full or part time workers face many challenges through the process of attending college. Working students have more than schoolwork to deal with. One of their responsibilities is to ensure their professional or work related duties are not neglected. For many of these students their employment is the base of everything else because without it there isn’t money to pay for college in the first place. Another time consuming on the plate of working students is time to spend with their families, especially the ones that go to college in their late years. During the late years, usually around thirty and forty years old, most people are married and already have children. To find time for college an adult student must learn to balance all of these responsibilities and be able to include time for studying on his or her daily routine.…

In general, those people who stand for the idea that students should not work part-time usually claim that students should save time for their lessons and exercises rather than work part-time. Furthermore, they need to maintain a good health for their study, and it may risk their life while working in an insecure environment. Though they make a point in their argument, it turns out to be more convincing that the benefits students get when doing part-time job outweigh the risks. First of all, it is commonly believed that students can get more practical experiences for their future business. In fact, formal training at colleges or universities only provides students with a basic background. In this case, it is no doubt that working part-time seems to be more helpful as it helps students learn more about responsibilities as well as real business challenges, which reinforces what they are learning in school. For instance, some studies show that undergraduates working part-time are more confident than the others when they start a job after graduation. In other words, the more experiences students gain during school time, the more benefits they will get in their future business.…
