Live-in relationships are a better way to determine if the partner is right: I have seen many couples who date and plan to stay together in order to figure out whether their relationship would work in the future or not. However, according to psychology and my personal experience, this is not true. Living alone as couples is way different than when responsibilities start to pour in. It is not important that the same person would behave in the same way before as well as after the marriage.…

According to the 2000 Census, there are eleven million unmarried people living with an unmarried partner in the United States today, and this number has grown 72% in the last decade alone. While many people like David Popenoe, a Professor of Sociology, on his essay Sociological Reasons Not to Live Together suggests that living together is not a good way to prepare for marriage or to avoid divorce. The world we live in today and always have lived in is based on money. Almost everyone has to work and make money to provide for him or her self, their family, or for other reasons. Cohabitation is getting popular because it is easier on couples financially. To give you a prime example, my sister goes to nursing school in Des Moines. She is currently about 2 hours away from family so she did have an apartment she was renting. Well her and this guy she has been dating for a while decide to get a small condo together because it would be cheaper for them and it would save gas money driving to see each other all the time. Although they do really like living together they made the move from a financial standpoint first. It just sometimes makes the most sense to save money and cohabitate.…

People who are on public assistance may lose that assistance if they are married. College students may choose to live with their significant other secretly as to not lose their parents assistance. It also provides people with a way to share a life without the legal entanglements of marriage. Some people believe that cohabitation will strengthen their relationships and eventually lead to marriage. Other studies show that living together first show a divorce rate twice as high after ten years of marriage. Cohabitation may not actually be the cause of divorce though. Typically people who with less traditional views of marriage cohabitate together. Because they already value the idea less that may be what leads to eventual…

People may engage into marriage thru various reasons. The majority of it is usually because of legal and social aspects. But the reality is that a person is not only associated to emotional or a feeling to someone but also it is the spiritual and religious aspects that lead to marriage. For me, a person who entered into a relationship with someone should be committed to the person he loved so the partnership between them will be strong and the marriage will be eternal. Marriage for me is not just a formal contract or agreement of two persons who love each other which is usually followed by a wedding ceremony. It is really important for me because it does not only show how relationship works but it is instituted and destined by God for the permanent relationship between a man and a woman. My point of view towards relationship to a good marriage is that it should not be developed according to our anticipation. With the conformity of a husband and wife that are married, they should not be separated and will stand for every hardship that they will encounter.…

“Marriage is, by design and agreement for the long run. Married people, thus see their relationships as much more stable as cohabiting couples do.” I also disagree with this saying that Linda j. Waite states in her article. The reason why I disagree is because there are many divorce rates now and days. If it was true what she says then there won’t be so many divorce rates. She says states that married couples are happier than cohabitating couples. She also states that children who are in cohabitating couples are less likely to succeed and this is a big lie in my opinion. For…

I understand that there are many different thoughts or people that don't support this idea. Many believe that you should be marry to the person but it's the 20th century a lot of the old traditions are really not followed as much. For example the marriage should be between a man and woman, the cohabitation and many other ones. My opinion is that we should just let them cohabitate to become responsible and learn by themselves.…
