Number 5) The Walker Family Murder
The Walker Family was murdered in their home over Christmas, 1959. After returning from errands, Christine Walker let someone inside their home. This person raped and murdered her.

Number 3) The Burnham and Wayne Family Massacre
On September 20, 1911, Alice May Turnham, her six-year-old daughter and three-year-old son were beaten to death with the blunt side of an axe. The dead were discovered by Alice’s sister, who then ran to the road to signal for help. People came from all around, except Henry and Blanche Wayne next door. The neighbors went into their house and found that they had been murdered with the same axe.
The method of the murders is curious. The killer violently beat the women and children to death with the blunt end of an axe, but took time to make the beds and tuck the corpses in before fleeing and leaving the axe–with an ink handprint–in the house for police to find.
Police had one suspect, AJ Burnham, Alice’s husband. He, however, was not charged. Much was made of his demeanor after being shown the murder scene. Apparently, Mr. Burnham simply walked around without showing any emotion, whatsoever. Number 2) The Keddie Murders
In 1981, Glenna Sharp, her daughter Tina, her son John, and John’s friend Dana Wingate were found dead in the cabin they had rented out. Tina was originally thought missing, but her bones were discovered three years later.
Sue, John and Dana were discovered in the cabin’s living room. They had been bound with medical tape and wire. A bloody hammer, a rifle pellet and pieces from a rifle barrel sight were found nearby. The killer had bludgeoned each person to death with one of two hammers and the butt of a rifle. Later, a bloody knife was found in the trash of a local general store.
Despite the breadth of evidence left around the cabin, no suspects have been named. All that exist are composite drawings of what police believe the suspects look like. Further, the movie The Strangers is loosely based upon this
