There’s something ahead of her that she should strive to achieve and she did not depend only to the past. She didn’t let her emotions weaken her; and lastly, integrity, because high-integrity leaders like her doesn’t blame others and/or take the blame herself, they own the situation and all its outcomes. Like for example, after all the circumstances they went through, she doesn’t blame them for being weak or not being wise to fight those who are after them. There’s no blaming or fighting within their team, they know from their selves that in this task given to them they would have to take risk even their lives, ‘cause there’s no backup. According to Robbins & Judge, the increasing rate of change in the external environment of organizations and the many new challenges facing leaders suggest that success as a leader in the twenty-first century will require a higher level of skill and some new competencies (2013). Effective leaders must be visionaries, inspirational, charismatic, strategic, focused, persuasive, likeable, decisive and open to positive and negative feedback. The most memorable leaders observe the dynamics around them and take pride in staying ahead of the game. Effective leaders learn how to overcome adversity and make sure that the same mistakes are never repeated. Oprah Winfrey, influential, dynamic, and powerful, has the leadership traits, characteristics and qualities of an effective leader. She is trusted, respected, and admired by people all over the world. This paper will analyze and identify Ms. Winfrey’s leadership characteristics and provide examples of leadership qualities that have contributed to her success. Throughout the worlds history there have been countless effective leaders. Many leaders are effective because they carry with them one trait that stand out to the people. Rosa Parks exuded her bravery when sitting in the front of the bus. Determination played a key role in Nelson Mandela’s leadership in South Africa. There are some leaders that hold more than just one trait, like Cesar Chavez. Everything Cesar Chavez experienced in his life made it possible for him to bear the qualities he had and affect the world during his career. His life experience gave Cesar the leverage to have the support of the migrant workers he was fighting for. I interviewed Becky Hendrix, Executive Director for Professional Care Services. I recently had the honor of interviewing someone in our community who has had more than twenty years of leadership experience in our community. The interview ended up taking much longer than I expected because I was so influenced by what she had to say, I did not want to miss anything. Mrs. Becky Hendrix started her career as a CPA back in the 80 's for the World Color Press. Her leadership abilities were quickly realized, and she was promoted to head CPA. From there she moved on to the Professional Care Service where she remained for fifteen years serving as a CPA, and finally working her way up to the Executive Director. Becky was in charge of over 187 employees. My conversation with Becky took a direction that I did not expect. She attributes her success to the leadership traits that she has learned over the years, and quoted many of the very ideas and theories almost verbatim from our class lecture. I had the opportunity to interview Casey Aguirre who is a Team Manager at the Salem Call Center for T-Mobile. Casey has been with T-Mobile for over 11 years. In this interview we discussed her leadership style, the steps she took to become a leader, her biggest challenges, and her greatest achievements among other things. When asked about what qualities make up a great leader she said honesty, the ability to delegate, communication, humor, confidence, commitment, have a positive attitude, creativity, intuition, and the ability to inspire others.
