Throughout my entire high school I have always received aid from my teachers, and tutors. In past times, this aid has always contributed toward my academic success in my education. As a first generation student the TRiO scholars program will be an important resource that will lead me toward success in my college education. As a first generation student I do not only want to obtain a bachelor's…
Throughout my four years of high school, I have consistently pushed myself beyond my limits and comfort zones in attempt to discover my place in the world. I spent most of first two years discovering who I was as an individual, ultimately manifesting into inspiration for success. I grew out of “fitting in” and decided to turn my life and aspirations towards a greater direction; on this road of discovery, I separated myself from those who valued arrogance and indifference. “Nerd Squad” is what I am a part of today, which is why I am currently confident enough to apply for the National Honors Society Scholarship. I believe I have grown into a tenacious, sympathetic, and joyous young man that the entire school has seen develop, and I am honored…
I have decided to apply to the UNCW Honors College because I strive to excel in everything I do while setting an example for my peers. I am a natural leader and feel that being a member of the honors college would propel me into the leadership role that I thrive in. I am strong in my beliefs and morals and will positively impact my peers as well as my community. I also would like to be surrounded by strong, like-minded individuals that take pride in their school and community. While being a member of the UNCW Honors College, I hope to positively impact my school as well as my community. I have lived in Wilmington all my life and have grown up around UNCW. Since this is my hometown I have a great deal of pride for this area and look to enrich…

I know that admission into the Schreyer Honors College is not necessary for me to gain study abroad and internship opportunities, however, I am aware that these are hallmarks of many Schreyer Scholars. I can promise that I am driven to take part in these opportunities and will do anything necessary to make these happen for me. Undergraduate research is another reason as to why I am seeking admittance into the Schreyer Honors College. Again, I know that my membership is not necessary for this opportunity. However, thanks to the aforementioned honors courses and study abroad experiences, I feel that my research thesis can be something that is very unique to me and something that the Schreyer Honors College has never seen a student study before, probably like most students. I am essentially seeking to conduct my own research and make a difference for Penn State and myself, and I will work above and beyond what is expected of me to make this happen. As I hope you can see, I desire to be a part of Schreyer to enhance my own life and make a difference to Penn State, as opposed to any special recognition. My membership into the Schreyer Honors College will be the drive that I need to succeed academically and work towards my goals. I know that I will be a positive addition to the…

The Honors Program grabbed my attention because it’s for academically outstanding students and I am that student. Throughout my years of high school, I have taken Advanced Placement and Honors classes and have done very well in them. Being average is not okay for me, I want to do my best and reach my fullest potential in everything I do. I like being challenged mentally and that is exactly what the Honors Program will do for me. In the Honors Program I will be able to engage in social and cultural seminars that I know I will thoroughly enjoy. I have been a part of Diversity Club where different cultures come together to share ideas, exchange food, and get to know more about each others’ culture, so I have an idea of what seminars are like. I am a very outgoing person and I love to meet and interact with new people so through these seminars and projects I will be able to do that. I would also like to get a broader perspective on the world and throughout the many different projects, I will gain that. I read about the Honors Program and what will be done throughout the four years and I thought to myself that this is where I belong, I will fit right in. I want to accomplish many things that this program will allow me to and greatness is what I would like to aim for. The Honors Program at John Carroll University brings together one of the most gifted, diverse, and active groups of people not only on campus, but in the country and I would like to be a part of that, something…
Upward bound has fulfilled my longing of becoming a successful college student by having students like myself enrolled inside the program participate various opportunities that will enhance their general understandings on specific matters. Upward bound helped me in achieving skills and strategies that prepare me to take on the awaiting challenges. Upward bound has helped me get ready for the ACT/SAT by giving me the practice booklets and providing mentors that teach me how to go about solving a question. The program has pushed in applying for colleges and scholarships. My mentor, likewise keeps track of the number of colleges and scholarships I have applied too. All through this program, I was able to increase my communication skills by engaging…
I'm interested in the HEO program because I don't want to limit myself as a scholar. Despite its expenses, Barnard seems worth the price. I cannot let my financial needs hold me back from the bright future I see ahead of me. I've devoted my school life in developing myself as a good student since I came to this country. I have carefully planned what I want from my life. I wouldn't want to settle for anything less. By participating in this program I expect to put money and all the stresses brought on by school and an unknown future in the back of my mind. With this program I can put all my energy to staying on top of my work, as well as my art, my passion and developing my career. This program is also ideal considering the availability of the…
It would be an amazing opportunity for me to be admitted into the IVCC Honors Program, not only because it would complement my hard work ethic, but also because it would provide me with an amazing college and educational experience.
