A Broken School System with no Vision In a broke society, education in the inner city is lacking the ability to give students the education they need, which includes students with low test scores. They lack the ability to read and comprehend what they learn compared to the students in the urban schools. However, why are inner city students struggling more than urban city students? The center of the problem in the inner city schools is their lack of funds. According to the University of Michigan, “-31 percent of all students in the United States are concentrated in 1.5 percent of urban schools”. In fact, all urban schools in the united stated alone funding formula runs on …show more content…
a low weighted scale. This effects quality of teachers, extracurricular activities for students to be involved in, poor books, and lack of help, causing students to have poor grades.
In my own experience I went to an inner city school where I found teachers were lacking in every class which I find it difficult for students to ask question.
In addition, after school activities are limited because of lack of grants from the government to fund programs so on the other hand, students don 't get to attend their favorite program what they like. According to Deirdre Mahoney in essay “Attending the Word”, “reading can be learned only because of the brain’s plastic design, place that individual brain is forever changed, both physiologically and intellectually” (358). One thing I find helpful when attending an after school activities is keeps young students off the streets and interacting with society with each other’s. In addition to, running a school takes lots of money to make the system going so to me urban city school system is running broke. In a urban school when it comes to books for the students to learn the condition of the book is very unsafe for a child to used so the question I ask myself where does the urban schools systems get money to pay for brand new books? In all school system urban school according to Mahoney, “we were never born to read”(358).Schools look towards voting ballets to make the decision on what get cut and what stays in for the next school year. fun.
In an urban school system alone students are more over weight on the things they eat while attending school because of the lack of healthy food option to eat from. Another thing lacking in a urban school system is metrical for what the kids need to make their education more fun so students can interact in what they are learning which the teacher is going over the problem. In the urban system alone student test score and graduation rates are very low because of lack of teachers with high stands to make students more successful with their education. How much learning does each students do when they are not in school? One thing I can say from my own experience is watching young kids grow up in a single parent home where children watch their parent go to work every day and to come home and find them in bed sleeping. Not every students have access to a computer at home to find time and do homework so this is why we need these after school extracurricular activities to attend where we can get the help we need to be successful in life. Then I ask myself should tuitions be include into urban school education? The outcome of doing that can be greatly beneficial to a child because that take away all negative that can distract a student from learning so on the other hand, students test score can improved, better funding from the states that gives the school credit to buy more advance things to make students learning more fun.
According to Kahlil Grbran in essay “Why we no longer used “H” word”,” the gifts which derive from justice are greater than those which spring from charity” (533).Schools in the urban city is what I called what poor people can 't afforded the opportunity students have in the inner city area because student in the inner city parents pay for their kids to have good education which benefits his or her students later on in life.
However, student who attending inner schools have higher test scores and graduation rate to prove what students are learning inside of a class room and outside. When vising an inner city school setting you find teacher with high exception for students to achieve on standard testing and gradation test as well. Good extracurricular activities for students to attend, books are paid for into their tuition when a child attends to a best school or his or her choice, nice computer lab where students can learn at a more quite paste, good healthful food choice to pick from and lots of materials where each student can used technology for any when working with your hands. When it comes to doing homework outside school students in the inner are more develop so they communicate with both parents to help them with their
homework. According to Cassie Heidecker in essay “the real, the bad, and the ugly”, “what viewers say they want and what they watch are not the same “(134). In the world we live in we don’t always get what we ask therefore, both parents and teachers along with students learn how to work with what they have. In today’s education teacher are lacking the ability to teach what they what. The question I ask myself why teachers don’t get paid enough for teaching students the right way of learning.
