Communication Styles Worksheet

You spent the past few days exploring the resources available to students at University of Phoenix, and you want to share what you learned with a friend who is interested in enrolling.

Write a 150- to 200-word e-mail to your friend summarizing the resources available to students.

Hey Reine!

I just wanted to share some information on some great resources that are available to the students of the University of Phoenix as you expressed interest of enrolling and thought this might help you make an educated decision.

The student library on the online learning classroom website offers a variety of resources, such as hundreds of e-books of classroom textbooks, university library full of test guides, encyclopedias, medical journal indexes, and a database of publications at your disposal. Not to mention Writing and Mathematics centers that allow you to learn and test your skills along with online coaching and a submittal service to check your school papers for grammar errors, plagiarism, and feedback on the quality of your work.

The University of Phoenix really supports and gives you access to so many other resource offerings, but that is just a taste of some of the beneficial tools at your grasp. Let me know if you think this school would be a good fit for you! I am sure you will do fantastic here!

You asked your facilitator to review your e-mail draft. She liked what you wrote and asked you to write a summary to post in the class forum for the other students to read.

Write a 150- to 200-word summary for your class of the resources available to students. Remember to write using an academic tone.

I recently wrote a friend on the benefits of the University of Phoenix as she was interested in enrolling, but was not sure how the school would assist students in an online environment.

I touched on a few of the resources available through the campus library such as the University Library,

The University of Phoenix’s classes that I am taking are all online. I start by accessing the Internet and logging into my ecampus student home page. There I am able to access my classes and see all my needed tools listed under each class. One of the main items you have at the University of Phoenix is your participation grade. You earn that grade by completing discussion questions and participating in discussions in the electronic forum. The electronic forum consists of the Main forum, the Chat room and the Course Materials forum. In those forums you will find all of your discussions. The discussion topics are all threaded discussions so you are able to follow each topic easily. One of the things I like about the electronic forum, is that you receive feedback from not only your professors, but all so your peers. This feedback is helpful for me to learn about the others views as well as mistakes or corrections I need to make. With my busy schedule the part of the University of Phoenix that best suits me is that your course work falls under the Asynchronous communication model. This way I am able to complete my course work at anytime during the week no matter what part of the world I am in. It gives me the flexibility to be able to attend college unlike the traditional Synchronous communication style of schooling.…

Distance learning is a great way to get a degree and still stay in the comfort of your own home. It is easy to work into your hectic schedule because there is no set time that you have to be online and all you need is a basic knowledge of the internet. There are a few basic requirements, such as participating in threaded discussions and giving feedback to your fellow students. Threaded discussions take place thru what is known as asynchronous communication. Asynchronous communication is defined as a “Form of communication in which participants use technology to share communication, wherein each participates at a different place and time, and face-to-face interaction does not occur. Often refers to distance learning interactions, e-mail, etc.” These discussions are part of your participation grade, and are led by your instructor. You will also have weekly assignments to complete and post on the electronic forum for your teacher to review and grade. All of your assignments are on the University website and broken down into what you will be doing week by week. There are other great features to the online campus at University of Phoenix. You have access to the student library, student labs, workshops, and community forums all which are geared to help you succeed.…
