Since Freak and Max became friends they have found meaning in their lives. In the past Max felt unloved and isolated as he has been bullied for being “different” to the societal norm. In life it is most crucial to find true love and happiness , otherwise life is despondent and …show more content…
simply hopeless. After Max first meets Freak and socializes with him he states “I’m crying like a baby. And the really weird thing is, I’m happy”. This depicts the effect shared moments of jubilee has on one’s stability and life. The fact that Max was crying places a great importance on rejoicement. During christmas eve Max is opening freaks gift to him and thinks “Freak seems like he’s just as excited as me” this is an example of their sincere and relevant emotions of shared joy. Both Max and Freak have experienced loneliness, in the novel we observe the contrast in Max and Freak’s lives before and after they gain one another as a friend. Before both Max and Freak were lonely , depressed and temperamental. After we notice their laughter, joy and togetherness. Therefore shared moments of happiness add quality to life
However Max and Freak’s connection and bliss is insignificant without health and life.
When freak and Max were at the swamp during the fourth of July they encountered Tony.D , a bully. They were under the threat of knives and a large gang. Freak and Max managed to work together to return to their security. Freak said to Max in triumph “Slow up ,we did it”. This is an example of how they saved themselves. After Freak and Max escaped the dark cellar where Killer Kane had tied Max up, Max was being strangled by Kenny. Freak and Max , together, liberated themselves. Iggy Lee says to Max “Take it easy kid , you’re okay!”. These are two prime examples of how these fatal situations were life threatening and could have potentially harmed them. Therefore Freak and Max’s ability to escape situations of danger is indeed adequate.
