On their way home, Usman noticed a blue van following them uncomfortably close. Usman kept an eye on the van and sped up. As part of his security training, it was his duty to keep DJ and any member of the Diplomat family safe at all times, while they were in his care. For those reasons, he couldn’t let a suspicious van get close enough to do any harm to DJ.
“What’s wrong?” DJ asked, gripping his seatbelt tightly.
“Don’t worry, just a minor inconvenience.” Usman explained, maneuvering through traffic, while trying to avoid colliding with other cars.

DJ did as LT said. He turned the key, which had been left in the ignition, pressed his foot to the accelerator and drove off with the tires scratching.
On the rear view mirror, DJ could see the tanker’s driver waving his hands and running after the car.
DJ’s entire body was aching and trembling. His head was hurting, but he didn’t stop.
Luckily, DJ had been through that road many times on his way to and from school, so he pretty much knew the road like the back of his hand. He drove as well and as fast as he could back to his home in Asokoro.
Controlling the car wasn’t as easy. DJ was too little and he couldn’t see out the windshield. He had to place the backpack underneath him to be able to see, but then he couldn’t reach the pedals, so LT had to brake and accelerate for him, while DJ steered the car.
Turning the wheel brought on some near crashes and caused many to hunk and call out to them, “Onye ara! (Mad person),” or, “Onye ishi mmebi! (Crazy person).”
