South Dakota is located in the central part of the United States. Rapid City is located in western South Dakota. The weather here changes with the seasons – cold, snowy winters and hot summers.
Hotel I am staying at is the Fairfield inn and suites. We will be staying in the Wa Tiki luxury suite. The room has 2 bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen area, and 2.5 bathrooms. It also has a balcony that overlooks the water park. The Wa Tiki water park is the largest indoor water park in the Dakotas. It has 30,000 square feet of water park and 1,000 feet of slides, lazy river, arcade and concessions.
The first attraction I will go to is the Mount Rushmore National Park. Admission is free, but you do have to pay for parking $11 per car for the day. The faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt are carved on the mountain. There is a walkway of every state’s flag on the way up to the monument. You can walk through the wildlife on trails to get a closer look at the monument; however you do not get to climb on the mountain – that’s illegal. There also is the Lincoln Borglum museum that has a lot of artifacts from the building of the monument to see. There also is a gift shop and several places to get a snack or something to fill your tummy. The movie National Treasure 2 with Nicholas Cage was also filmed here.
The second day my family and I will tour some attractions right in Rapid City. First we will visit Storybook Island. From the fantastic castle at the entrance, to Snow White's house (surrounded by her darling seven dwarfs, the Dalmatians, a train to ride, swings, the Crooked Man's house, a Dragon, a maze, and the 100 Acre Woods we can get lost within a fantastic world of storybook creatures and play sets. Second, we will
