Topic: Why you should take a vacation every year
General Purpose: To persuade
Specific Purpose: By the end of my speech the audience will be more interested in taking a vacation every year.
INTRODUCTION:

Attention Getter: According to a study from the State University of NY, people who take at least one vacation a year reduce their risk of death by 20 percent.

Purpose: By the end of my speech, my audience will be more inclined to take a vacation every year.

Importance to Audience: My audience will understand that taking at least one vacation a year reduces stress and prevents heart disease, improves productivity, and overall makes you a happier person.

First Main Point: Stress Reduction and Heart Disease Prevention.
a. A study by the APA, American Psychological Association, found that vacations reduce stress because they remove people from environments that tend to be foundations of stress. Prolonged stress can be corrosive to our bodies.
b. The study concluded that 94% had more energy after a vacation as well.
c. The world-renowned Framingham Heart Study, the lengthiest and leading study of heart disease publicized that men and women who did not take a vacation for several years were 30% more likely to have heart attacks.
II. Second Main Point: Improvement of Productivity.
a. When you do not allow the body to recharge, you become exhausted, impatient, make poor decisions, and get sick.
b. A professional firm known as Ernst & Young performed an in-house study of its employees and discovered that every employee that took at least 10 hours of vacation time had improved year-end performances by 8%.
c. The human body and mind need breaks; vacations provide rest and a plethora of benefits that have unmatched influence on your success and happiness.

III. Third Main Point: Happiness.
