The CNN article is reinforcing the importance of children being vaccinated, especially in school. In most states, a child cannot attend school until documentation is provided as proof that the child is up to date on all vaccines. Parents have been known to use philosophical and religious beliefs as an exemption qualification in order to overcome the vaccination barrier. A vaccination is meant to trick the immune system and prepare it incase the real virus is caught. How well the body protects itself against the virus is highly dependable on its immune system. Human beings naturally seek approval but very many seek it to an extreme because of high feelings of doubt. These types of people place great value on the opinions of others, especially their loved ones. This is developed at a young age due to all the new experiences like school. These feelings of inadequacy can continue throughout ones life. For example, young adults tend to struggle with dependency and making their own decisions because most are used to their parents always being there. Although, early experiences do play a role on molding us into who we are, it doesn’t mean that later experiences can’t alter someone. A person can change. This is why so many people have defense mechanisms. Everybody has experienced different things at different times and they all affect us differently. It is highly likely that those who have read this book were people experiencing difficult times in their adult life. These people are self-empowered, they relied on a higher authority for advice in order to make their lives better.
