People’s choices are now affecting the lives of others. The spread of diseases, has become a problem. The diseases are able to protected with vaccinations. They are coming back into society during small outbreaks. There was an outbreak in 2014 in the state of California. While everyone has a right to make their own choices, your choices can affect the to the lives of others. At this point, they are no longer just individual choices. My 5 year old child has all her vaccinations. But there is no guarantee that they will be effective. As a child, they had me vaccinated for pertussis. I contracted it despite having been vaccinated for it. It is terrifying my child could contract something deadly. All because of the ill-informed choices of others. Vaccinations, like it or not, are not a choice. They should be mandatory to protect the lives of all…
Some people have different opinions when it comes to deciding if children should get vaccinated or not. There are both pros and cons to getting children vaccinated, some of the pros are that it can help get rid of any type of bacteria that may be building up inside a child’s body. A con is that vaccines can sometimes cause serious and even fatal side effects. However, overall vaccinations and getting children vaccinated would be the best way to go. it’s better to be thankful now than to be sorry later. Vaccinations are the best way to keep children from being vulnerable to diseases or viruses. One of the main reasons why a person should get their child vaccinated is that vaccinations can save your child’s life. (Vaccines.com) By going to the doctor and…
My first point is that there are reasons we have vaccines. Vaccines can keep you healthy, keep you from a life or death situation, the diseases that vaccines prevent are normally expensive to care for once you get them, anyone around you is at risk of getting sick, vaccines are safe, the diseases they prevent aren’t gone, and they are important to your health. Without vaccines, many more illnesses would still be common and a lot more people would be sick. Things like polio, which have been wiped out in the United States, would still be around and still harming the nation.…
People are current taking action against vaccinations and joining the anti-vaccination movement. Although research proves anti-immunization increases disease rates, parents stand firm in their believe that their children should not be vaccinated. This paper briefly discusses the reasoning behind their notion and the substantial fact about vaccinations. It then provides facts behind their judgment and consequences of…
In 2010 PBS aired a one hour Frontline documentary about the vaccine war in the United States. This documentary pitted scientists and parents against each other, scientist’s back up their claims with scientific evidence while the parent’s arguments are solely based on opinion. The parents introduced throughout the film who were against vaccines made claims that the vaccines given to children in today’s world are the cause of many issues, like the rise in autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities. These parents also feel there is no need to vaccinate because the diseases that their children are being vaccinated for are no longer an issue in the united states. While the scientists stress the importance of vaccines because they have decreased the issues of these diseases that cause so many problems when infected. A lot of these scientists are older and were children when these diseases had outbreaks and may have even gotten the disease themselves. In the films conclusion Arthur Caplan is quoted saying “Do good in the name of children. Do good in the name of public health”. This quote leaves the viewers with the decision on who to side with. I feel like the documentary was in favor of the scientists and were in support of vaccinating children.…
Different approaches are employed to generate and also deliver a vaccine; each method has its own merits and demerits. Few of these merits are discussed below: The main advantage of genetically engineered organisms used as vaccines is that the proteins that are formed do not contain the complete viral strain. So it has no risks related to accidental immunization with live virus. Direct cloning into the DNA of vaccinia virus is promising, however vaccines using this method have not been released into the market yet (Nagy, 2001).…
The media is the single most controlling force behind mass public opinions and beliefs, it is there everyday influencing and informing people on current events and political ideas. It is how the media portrays the vaccine debate and its advocates of both sides, that will be informing the public and influencing the public's understanding of the vaccine controversy (Haertlein 225). According to Georgina Cairns, “Information is filtered, interpreted, and potentially distorted by receivers’ personal values and concerns,” (1555); the media portrayal of the negative and positive impacts of vaccines is often centered around the tendency of people in panic or anxiety about the debate, to invest their attention away from the positive information and…
Vaccines are responsible for minimizing the risk of many deadly diseases and even eradicating some completely. People today are privileged enough to live during a time where the fear of dying from a disease like measles or smallpox is negligible. Even so vaccines are not without dissenters. There is a segment of humanity that believes there is a credible association between vaccines and rising autism rates. The following articles will show that there are varying ideas on the best way to disprove vaccination opponents, yet no solid solution has been reached on how to convince vaccination opponents that their fears are unfounded.…
Yes, I do believe mandatory vaccine programs should be instituted as a public health initiative. Those who are not immunized put other people at risk to these dangerous diseases. Vaccines are meant to help prevent and stop the spread of these viruses to others. It is not fair to those who are medically sensitive and have a suppressed immune system be exposed to these unvaccinated individuals because of their personal beliefs. Many parents do not want to vaccinate their children because they think their child will have a “regression”. There have been many studies where there is no correlation between vaccines and autism or any other type of disorder. These individuals have a hard time understanding science and its facts. The measles outbreak in Disneyland occurred because the individual was not vaccinated and had the virus. In a matter of time it spread to over 100 infections to different states around the country. If vaccines were mandatory, this outbreak would have not occurred.…
Vaccines according to the CDC (2009) are a disease causing agent that aids the human body in gaining immunity to fight off a specific infectious disease. These vaccinations are usually administered to young children in a serious of treatments over a prescribed period of time so that they can eventually become fully immunized.…
Vaccines have already vanquished smallpox and have the polio virus on the run, as a result of which if people can get the vaccines in the childhood, it will reduce the probability of getting that disease in the future. It can not only save the money but also reduce the pain when you get the chemical treatment which aimed to destroy the cancer cells. Nowadays, more and more people go to the hospital to get the vaccines in order to keep them away from the disease outbreak. In my country, the government decides to provide free vaccines to the senior citizens and new born babies, which mean that it protect the residents’ health but also reduce their heavy financial burden in the family. Simultaneously, it is an effective way to reduce the great numbers of patients. My neighbor grandma Wang said that it is a really economical way for them after they retire from the university and it is also health welfare for them. However, many doctors who administer the vaccinations lose money on them, according to new data from Athena health, a company that helps doctors with electronic billing and medical records. Therefore, vaccines is a really way prevent people from getting…
I believe everyone should be vaccinated in their life and here is why. Vaccines cause your immune system to produce disease-fighting antibodies without causing the disease itself. Today, more than 20 serious human diseases can be prevented by vaccination. For some diseases, you need to be vaccinated only once in your life. For other diseases, such as measles, tetanus, and influenza, you may need to be vaccinated at regular intervals.…
A last major political goal for our party is to mandate vaccinations for our children. In a recent poll, 28% of voters voted no in their children being vaccinated for preventable diseases.…
To think that a vaccine can save a community is to believe that a single grain of rice can end world hunger. Sure, if everyone was to be vaccinated, perhaps there would be a difference. However, the reality is this is not the case. Several people believe that kids who are not vaccinated impose health threats on kids who have been vaccinated. This belief is flawed because the kids with the vaccines are the ones who are bringing the viruses into our schools. The vaccines carry the very virus that they are supposed to protect kids from. An additional factor that must be considered when looking at the big picture is that the superintendent's forcing parents to get their children vaccinated is the groups that fail to do so.…
This controversial issue, I believe, is a lot like last week’s issue pertaining to whether or not boys and girls should be obligated to get the Cervical Cancer Vaccine. There are both benefits and negatives of getting the vaccine, whereas this week’s topic demonstrates the benefits and negatives of a routine male circumcision. It is hard to say one way or another, and I think if I were a male, it would be easier to answer. I still do not believe there is a valid reason for routine male circumcision. It says, in an article by Angus Nicoll, “The case for routine male circumcision has rested most firmly on the observation rates of infant urinary tract infection and adult penile cancer are lower in circumcised males, however when weighed against…
