Valuable Campus Life
Valuable Campus Life Time is money. This phrase used by Benjamin Franklin is usually true in our daily life, and campus life is no exception. Especially in the United States, tuition fees for public university also cost a lot. At the University of Alabama, undergraduate non-residents have to pay 11,475 dollars per semester, while enrolled hours are between 12 and 16 (Undergraduate Campus Student Tuition). Of course, students have to pay additional fees if they want to learn more credits in one semester. Classes last from January 9th to April 26th in spring 2013 in the UA, even though let us separate tuition fees in four months, students still have to pay almost 3,000 dollars per month, which is 100 dollars per day. Based on the data above, we need to make our campus life deserve such an expensive tuition. What kind of campus life is valuable? In my opinion, valuable campus life should consist of three elements, which are studying well, doing more reading and keeping healthy. The word "university" is derived from the Latin, which means “the community of teachers and scholars” (Chisholm). Without a doubt, our purpose to study in the university is to learn something, and a valuable campus life should provide a good environment for academic study and social experience. In fact, the most important point a valuable campus should have is the free academic environment. People can express their opinions and ask any questions freely, just as my business law instructor, Allan Triple, said “There are no stupid questions.” Because most of our purposes to study in universities are to learn something, and GPA is one way reflect what we had learned and how well we did in university, so a valuable campus life also need to offer us an suitable environment to study. Some universities will not allow students to study aboard or give internships unless they have a certain GPA. Also, some scholarships require a certain GPA.
