Based on confidence, I believe being passion, a leader, and respect builds up an athlete or persons self esteem. Having confidence in oneself benefits a person by helping them reach for higher success. According to Foundations of Sport and Exercise Psychology it states “ self confidence to be a belief that you can successfully perform a desired behavior” (Weinberg, 2011). Presenting this topic to an athlete, you have to first try to get to know how much confidence an athlete has. A few talking points can be as followed:
• How much do you believe in yourself?
• Could you see yourself performing in a big crowd with 600,000 people?
• How would you compare yourself to the other players on the team?
• Do you see yourself as a bad athlete? Good athlete?
When it comes to motivation, these specific characteristic traits can also have some effect on the athlete’s performance/results. Speaking of the motivation aspect, the following talking points can go as followed:
