For example, he appreciates the United States’ effort to educate its citizens – a necessity for a functioning democracy that will truly do the people best. He goes further with this praise, specifically writers like Emerson, Channing, and Poe as well as Boston, which he refers to as a “city of learning and tradition, a glorious pleiad which holds in the intellectual story of our century a universal fame.” (113). Clearly, Rodo is conveying a sense of veneration for this culture that has led to such an emphasis on learning and is a model that he would wish for Latin America to follow. It is this foundation of culture that Rodo appreciates and wishes to follow; he praises the North Americans for their achievements here and hopes that Latin America can also take a portion of these cultural attitudes for itself.…

Miguel Ángel Asturias’s novel is somewhat divided in the novelty of its approach. Does El Señor Presidente have a completely new way of defining the reality of Latin American experience, or is it just a different twist in a mixture of the Indigenismo and dictator novel? Defending the argument, Asturias successfully established the earlier use of magical realism in El Señor Presidente. Through it, the narrative does show attempts to define a true Latin American experience: Asturias aspires to respect Indigenous culture and make it stand out in its own right. However, René Prieto suggests that, like prior Indigenista authors, the author overindulged and exaggerated with stock phraseology and wordplay “It seems forced and brilliant, weighed down with cumbersome platitudes and yet brimming with original passages.”…

The thesis of your review should focus on either the concept of class and how it may be perpetuated not only by those in power but also by the very people that are negatively impacted by it or an opposing position, i.e., the concept of class has no basis in contemporary American society.…

By definition, manual valves are those valves that operate through a manual operator (such as a handwheel or handlever), which are primarily used to stop and start flow (block or on–off valves), although some designs can be used for basic throttling. The best manual valves for on–off service are those that allow flow to move straight through the body, with a full-area closure element that presents little or no pressure drop. Usually if a manual valve is used to start and stop flow, as an on–off valve, and the manual operator is placed in a midstroke position, partial flow is possible as a throttling valve. However, some on–off designs in a midstroke position are not conducive to smooth flow conditions and may even cause turbulence and cavitation. Even though a manual on–off valve is being used in a throttling situation, it is not considered a control valve because it is not part of a process loop, which requires some type of self-actuation as well as input from a controlling device to a valve and position feedback. Throttling manual valves used to control flow are those that offer a definite flow characteristic—inherent or otherwise—between the area of the seat opening and the stroke of the closure element. Besides on–off and throttling functions, manual valves are also used to divert or combine flow through a three- or four-way design configuration. 3.1.2 Classifications of Manual Valves Manual valves are usually classified into four types, depending on their design and use. The first classification type of manual valves is…

Paying attention to detail is very important. Attention to detail is one of the most important aspects of a good Marine and a good leader The smallest of details are often the ones that can threaten the success of a mission, and can mean the difference between life and death. Civilians can happily go about their lives, blindly, with no worries about the small details of life that we as marines have been trained to observe. The United States Marines is an established institution with a history that goes back to November 10th 1775, and some of the greatest military minds have developed the very practices and traditions that are still in use today. Every aspect has been considered and every situation has been taken into account. Because of this, Marine regulations are precise so that we can survive situations that can and will be encountered in the field. It is especially relevant during combat scenarios , where saying one wrong digit in a string of coordinates can mean that a soldier won’t receive medical attention in time, or an air strike accidentally kills a large amount of innocent civilians.…
