Revenge is defined by Dictionary.com as; “to exact punishment or expiation for a wrong on behalf of, especially in a resentful or vindictive spirit.” Likewise, vengeance is similarly defined as; “infliction of injury, harm, humiliation, or the like, on a person by another who has been harmed by that person; violent revenge.” The words are synonymous with each other. Regardless of which word is used it is human nature to want revenge for a wrong doing, especially when an unkind act happens to us personally. We are fallen sinners and our version of vengeance won’t be the right approach. Leviticus 19:18 “You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.(ESV)” God says that he will take vengeance on himself. When He avenges a wrong, He does It with love in his heart the way a parent disciplines he child. As humans we strive for vengeance with malice and hate in our hearts, and that’s wrong. We must trust that God will do what is best for you and the other party
