Bill. There are several different options for this benefit depending on the time you served and how long. Reading through the VA page it actually somewhat confusing. The basic information is that if you served on active duty after 9/11 you are entitled to the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill. This gives the service member that served three consecutive years on active duty and an honorable discharge a free bachelor’s degree at most institutions. Those that served less than three years are still entitled to their G.I. bill at a reduced rate depending on their time in service. The G.I. bill may also be transferred to immediate family members.
