A veterinarian technician performs medical tests under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian to assist in diagnosing the injuries and illnesses of animals. They can provide nursing care or emergency first aid to injured or recovering animals and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian. Vet technicians can specialize in dentistry, anesthesia, emergency and critical care and zoological medicine. They can also do the simple things such as take and develop x-rays, bathe, clip nails and brush or cut the animal's’ hair.
