Veterinary Career
My personal goal is to pursue a career in the Veterinary Sciences, my long-term goal is to become an equine veterinarian and/or a large animal veterinarian. I would like to pursue this career at Charlottetown Veterinary Clinic in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
My primary choice would be to receive enough education to primarily be a veterinarian, along with this job I realize that there will be times where I might have to help out behind the desk (i.e. office manager), but I would much rather be a full time veterinarian. To become a vet I will need to take two years of pre-veterinary courses or I will need to go through a 4-5 year university program to achieve my veterinarian medicine degree. This 4-5 year veterinary medicine program is available at the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island. I will then need to apply for my provisional license, after this I can decide if I want to go back to school and do a post-graduate study. This study would help me get more jobs in the research area.

Also, another quality of a great vet is compassion towards animals, I believe I have quite a bit of compassion towards animals, I am constantly doing something with animals, whether it's playing with my dog, helping out on my farm or horseback riding. I have also improved on my customer service skills, have improved these skill by working at Vacationland RV Park and Campground over the summer, I plan on continuing with this job until I am out of university so I believe this will really improve my skills. As well, I would like to continue my volunteering at the Humane Society, I believe this will also help my customer service

First, a career in veterinary technologist and technician would bring me great personal satisfaction. I enjoy working, helping out, and simply being around animals. For example, Julie Legred, a veterinary technician and executive director at the National Association of veterinary technicians in America, says, “We do everything except diagnose, prescribe and do surgery. They often work in private clinics and animal hospitals, assisting veterinarians with the care of animals” ("Veterinary Technologist and Technician"). Without veterinary technologists and technicians,…

I have known since a young age that my place in the world was to help toughs who couldn’t help themselves. Even at the age of 5 or 6 I remember loving animals and whenever I saw a ran over animal on the side of the street I would feel a pang of sympathy for it. At the time I just thought I was from seeing it dead, but now I realize that it was my love of them. I feel like I’m drawn to hurt creatures and need to help them. My hope is to go to a good collage like Wazoo. I want to be an exotic vet because I feel like the animals in more remote places don’t get the attention they need. In places like Africa tend to focus more on the needs of the people rather than the animals. This is reasonable though, first you need to take care of yourself before anything else.…
