In June of 2013, Brandom Vandenburg and two other young males raped an “unconscious female student” at Vanderbilt University located in Nashville, Tennessee. At the time Vandenburg and the victim were dating, and he was a member of the Vanderbilt football team. Vandenburg took the victim into a dorm room, and with the help of three other teammates from the football team, they raped her. The case went to court where Vandenburg was charged “five counts of aggravated rape, two counts of aggravated sexual battery, and one count of unlawful photography.” Vandenburg blames his ignorance with alcohol for the reason why he raped his at the time girlfriend. The victim failed to be at the court hearing, but she send a written statement saying she hopes…
To sum up the book in 5 sentences, it was a book about this guy who got caught smuggling Heroin from Thailand to Australia. He got caught in Thailand after they suspected this drug activity at the airport one of the previous times, and the Thailand police contacted the Australian police about it and wanted them to keep a close eye on him, so they did and then put him and his accomplice in a Bangkok prison, at first he got “life”.He spent most of his time in Bang Kwang, but anywhere he went the guards beat the prisoners, sometimes to death, and they had to wear chains around their ankles. There was a riot one time when this person in Building Four (one of the worst places) stabbed a guard and everyone in that building followed, him and Paul stayed in their cell fearing about what the guards would do, which was making them crawl through human feces. Heroin is a tremendous deal in the prisons as well and guards sold it to…
The case we received was Ed Franklin, a former teacher at public and private schools in Minersville, pled guilty to state criminal charges of sexually molesting several of his former students. One of Franklin's victims was invited to appear at Franklin’s sentencing hearing in order to testify about the impact of the molestation. While the hearing was open to the press and public, the judge ordered the reporters present not to identify any of the sexual assault victims in press accounts of the sentencing. None of the reporters present at the hearing raised any objection to the judge’s order. Despite the order, a reporter for the American Press news syndicate included the victim’s name in coverage of the hearing.…
The letter read by the victim of the assault is a fascinating story which is full of many issues to be addressed. It is also one of the cases which have many dilemmas. The case is about Brock Allen Turner, who is a swimmer and the victim of an assault who is a complainant. The victim of crime is complaining about Brock Allen Turner who she believes that he assault her. She was at a party with her friends, and she decides to drink some alcohol. According to the witness, she was found being raped by Brock Allen Turner in the dumpster side. Brock ran, and she was helped and taken to the hospital. The victim did not even realize what she had undergone. She was unconscious, and she could not even know where she was. When she was informed that she had been assaulted, she did not…

The article I just read recently, was “Children’s Arrests in Bullying Case Distress Tennessee City” written by Christine Hauser. Hauser writes about how children of the ages of 12 years old were arrested for bullying a boy. There were 10 children involved who were pushing the boy into the street and trying to provoke him into making a move. One of the children was recording the whole incident while the boy was being beaten up and later had posted it on YouTube. After the arrest of the children’s parents and churches started to gather up at the city hall and demand the police officers to drop the charges described as “criminally responsible for the conduct of another”. Zacchaeus and LaVonia Crawford were later on revealed as the mothers…
This would allow her to avoid being incarcerated as this is likely to put her in a downward spiral within the justice system because of her vulnerabilities. The importance of getting the appropriate resources and support to help Kimmie deal with the trauma she has witnessed and experienced is critical in deterring her from reoffending, as she has never had the opportunity to heal. Entering an institutional facility would expose Kimmie to the trauma of experiencing further abuse and elude her from dealing with her untreated emotional pain (Simkins & Katz, 2002). An appropriate case plan to implement for Kimmie would begin through a Judge that was court-ordered because of her most recent Aggravated Assault convictions. Kimmie would be ordered to have a professionally completed assessment on her psychological and mental health through a medical personnel. Not only would this assessment help the Criminal Justice system with understanding why Kimmie is continuing her aggressive behaviours but also gives her evidence so that her family can begin understanding and supporting her instead of suppressing and marginalizing her. Although data is limited, there is a reality of the Criminal Justice System criminalizing abused girls without there being appropriate mediations and interventions to understand why these violent behaviours have occurred (Simkins & Katz, 2002). The Criminal Justice System tends to focus on young girls’ aggressive and violent behaviours as just a crime rather than focusing on the possible trauma that these young girls have experienced. The trauma experienced by these young girls often have a very strong connection to the crimes they are being convicted of (Simkins & Katz, 2002). The psychological and mental health assessment Kimmie will undergo will allow the professionals involved to address her risk factors more appropriately…
Serious crimes against adolescent include emotional and physical abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Child-related crimes often are committed by parents and caretaker, but it can also lead to intruders that recently committed home invasion. Cruelty to a child can be classified, when a person spitefully causes an adolescent under the age of 18 excessive physical or mental pain, which Warfield experiences children being tied and witness an adult being captured. Warfield’s associates were the aggressors and acknowledge that children were present at the scene, which they took upon themselves to tied them; however, the children were able to see or hears the…
‘Carolyn is 21-years-old, and autistic with moderate intellectual disabilities. She attends a special school program to assist with her disabilities. On a recent field trip, Carolyn’s teacher left her and two male students unsupervised in the school van for a brief period of time. While the teacher was gone, one of the young men took Carolyn’s shirt off, fondled her bare breasts, and took a picture of them. When the students returned to school, he showed the pictures to other students. Carolyn told her mother about what happened and her mother contacted APS for help.’…
The woman had made allegations against one of the perpetrators as a child but agencies decided her mother could protect her. When her mother died, he was allowed to become her carer, making her sleep on a carpet in the hall at his home. He began taking the woman’s benefit money, deprived her of food and liquid and made her sit in the dark for long periods. Together with two friends he forced her to strip, shaved her head, sexually assaulted her and repeatedly stamped on her face and body. They also threw the woman over a fence, handcuffed her to a door and set fire to her clothing.…
The first altercation took place while on the school bus. The client reports that her fellow male classmate accused her of pulling his hair; as a result he lifted through her in-between the seats and began to kick and hit her. Both, the client and the male classmate were suspended off the school bus. The second alternation took place several days before Christmas. While walking from a nearby park, the client says, she was attacked by several females who hit, kicked and dragged her across the…
Kay’s statement that, “…it's clear that we should recognize juvenile offenders of violent crimes for what they are: dangerous criminals who happen to be teenagers,” which magnifies the idea that these are not normal children, but also criminals (“Should teens be tried as adults...”). Beneath their outer appearance is still a violent criminal, which should not be overlooked. The judicial system must effectively look at the crime committed by an adolescence, before the offender’s age, because that is the only way to effectively try these…
In the Movie “ Sleepers” a story about four male friends who stole a hot dog cart, accidently rolled it down some subway steps and ended up crushing a man. All four friends end up going to a reformatory prison and got sexually assaulted by a guard there named Nokes. All four boys were traumatized by these horrible events that happened but two of the boys held anger and venedict. Years later, these two boys happened to see Nokes at a bar. They approached him where he was sitting, and they both shot him various times all over his body. The few people there that were in the same bar, testified what had happened but either way it went, both friends got not guilty. I personally think that the two defendants were morally incorrect in killing the guard Nokes because even though Nokes traumatized them so badly, that that might be all they ever think about - i think that taking a life is not justified and it is not the place of the victims to determine whether or not they are guilty, this is a matter for the court to decide. Even though in a greater chance of them not being able to, they could move on just like their other two friends that went through that also. They could be able to take a little bit of counseling and faith that they’ll forget the horrific events or maybe to just move forward from that time of their life. The rest of the other boys went into college and through this they probably got distracted and they didn’t really think about those prison times. The two boys probably still felt dirty inside that they just wanted revenge, because possibly just like them many more of the other prisoners there had gone through the same exact things as themselves, but revenge is not the answer. Under any circumstance i honestly feel that if someone is raped they are going to automatically want revenge of some type, the two boys were kind of “an eye for an eye, ear for an ear “kind of type of people, but with all the little boys that he obviously must have raped Nokes will…
