Vietnamese Culture And Culture
After I read about the Vietnam Wars I can infer that the Vietnamese people and culture over the centuries have been very proud and have stayed almost the same over the time periods of war and struggles. It all started in 208 B.C. from what I have read. The Vietnamese people were first invaded by China time and time again and continuously being pushed around. Every single time the Chinese invaded Vietnam, Vietnam became a territory of the Chinese. Every single time a rebellion would end up sparking though, and every time a rebellion happened the Vietnamese would gain back their independence from the Chinese. Finally in 1428 A.D. a rebellion started while Vietnam was under Chinese rule and they used political persuasion this time instead of war.
This was the last time China ever invaded Vietnam. Then in 1627 came the French, a priest converted over 6,000 Vietnamese people to Catholicism before the emperor had driven him out. Two hundred years later the French came back and took Vietnam as a French colony under the claim that they did not want their priests to be persecuted. When the Vietnamese became enslaved by being forced to mass produce things like rubber and salt as well as opium which the French used to get the Vietnamese to become addicts, the Vietnamese people had enough of the French. Soon the French tried to execute and teach French ways to the Vietnamese, but just with the Chinese the Vietnamese people did not break resistance hence another rebellion in Vietnam against the French. Eventually the French were driven out in 1941 almost for good with the help of the Americans. However soon after the French wanted to take back Vietnam, but the Vietnamese were confident if the French wanted a war that Vietnam could win. With the Vietnamese knowing the land around them and how to work through it they fought to their advantage and were victorious against the French and they remained an independent country.
