Who has more power-you or your opponent? What are the sources of power? What are theirs?
I have more powers than my opponent. The sources of my powers is the initial contract that was drafted with terms that did not allow for an increment of any cost overruns. In any case of such overruns, the contract states that Woodcrafters shall be responsible for such costs. The contract is both final and binding. On the other hand, Sandy Wood has the advantage on that Margaret, my secretary, agreed to the increment in charges. While the agreement was not legally written down, there was no way for Sandy to know that Margaret did not have the power to make decisions on behalf of Viking Investments.
What are your opening moves/first strategies? How do you plan to interact with the other party?
Even though the disagreement started off with a heated argument, I plan to first get Sandy on a somber mood through reminding her of our past successful business transactions and how thy have mutually beneficial to both of us. The participants of this negotiation are Downtown Inc., and myself as a representative of Jones & Jones. The situation is that Downtown acquired the Bullard property with the intent of preventing its destruction, and preparing it for sale to condominium developers. Downtown was able to relocate the majority of tenants, but legislation was passed requiring significant payouts to departing tenants. Downtown is facing a major issue of decreased cash flow while taxes are increasing, so they are seeking to sell as soon as possible. I represent Jones & Jones, a leading real estate firm, whose client is Absentia Ltd., and they are owned by a Bahamian blind trust that is in turn controlled by the Conrad Milton Hotel Group. The end goal is to acquire the property and maintain the Bullard name along with the brownstone buildings while turning the garden area into a hotel. Ideally the true identity and intention of my clients will be kept secret to prevent a serious price hike, as well as potential zoning issues.…

    Zipper Is Onomatopoeia

    • 402 Words

The bulk of a zipper consists of two strips of fabric tape, each affixed to one of the two pieces to be joined, carrying from tens to hundreds of specially shaped metal or plastic teeth. These teeth can be either individual or shaped from a continuous coil, and are also referred to as elements.[1] The slider, operated by hand, moves along the rows of teeth. Inside the slider is a Y-shaped channel that meshes together or separates the opposing rows of teeth, depending on the direction of the slider's movement. "Zipper" is onomatopoeia, because it was named for the sound it makes when you use it, a high-pitched "zip!"…

What is power? What are different examples of power? How can people gain and maintain power? Power is being able to make something happen or prevent something from happening. You know if someone has power if they are leaders or if they are respected. If you’re a good influence you can also gain power because people begin to follow in your footsteps. Examples of power are political, economic, and social. Political power is an authority held by a group within society that allows for the administration of public resources and implement policies for society. Three ways people can have power is by what gender they are, what race they are, and what class they live in. Some people can have more power than others, it all depends on your perception of it. In a lot of books, movies, and even in real life, your power matters to where you stand on a social status. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, social power leaves a big impression in this novel. The character, Mayella, is a trashy white girl who lives with her dad and seven siblings. In this novel, Mayella does not have power.…

What does it mean to have power? Well to me power is have some small or large portion of power over others. When we think about power today we think of someone that is running a country or owning a company, but when we think of somebody having power it could be having nuclear codes or even making a choice that can change the path of a sports game or a class grade. When I asked my brother Richard Roberts an ex-soldier and a college student he said this “Power and integrity are typically considered to be antonyms today. Largely because people typically acquire power through less than ethical means.” The impact that a lot of power can have on an individual is sometime good sometimes bad based on the individual sometimes can be bad because the…
