Vincent Van Gogh's The Art Of Night
My black out poem titled “The Art of Night” came from an article I cut out from The Washington Post newspaper. The article discussed the movie “Loving Vincent,” which goes over the short life of the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh, quickly grabbed my attention. I have always had an interest in art, especially Van Gogh’s, so my word choice focused around art and how I see it. Searching for words that fit together helped me discover the theme, which is that art is puzzling/ a mystery. Everyone will see a piece of art differently from another person no matter how simplistic or complex a piece may appear to be. To give a better image of my idea of a painted night sky, I used dark colors for the background and white stars scattered around. The
image I created helps the reader understand that everyone has a different interpretation of a night sky, revealing the mysterious side of art. I used the color purple as the main color of the sky since it reminded me of a night when the moon lit up the sky and stars shined from every direction. It was that night that I noticed hints of purple in the glowing sky and the other hidden colors that spread across it. It was as if it was painted with careful strokes to make the colors blend together perfectly. That image inspired the one I had drawn for my blackout poem.
