Amnesty International reported that “In September 2015, a 13 year old boy was killed during a police operation in Manguinhos and a 16 year old boy was shot dead in Maré, both favelas of Rio de Janeiro”. (amnestyusa.org). The police reported these killings as accidents, but they were really paid killings. Someone paid the officers to get rid of those kids because they were causing the person or business some trouble. Another incident like this happened in February 2015 a human rights observer heard about an incident where, “12 people were shot dead and four others injured by Military Police officers during an operation in the neighborhood of Cubula in the city of Salvador in the northeastern state of Bahia”. (hrw.org). Again the police just reported the incident as an accidental civilian shooting, but the four that survived said that the police were hunting them down and trying to kill them. A human rights observer also heard about, Eduardo de Jesus Ferreira, a 10 year old boy, who was killed by police officers outside his home in the Complex do Alemão neighborhood, Rio de Janeiro, on 2 April”. (hrw.org). Amnesty International has evidence showing that “Police who are responsible for unlawful killings enjoyed almost total impunity” (amnestyusa.org). The police can arrest detainees illegally and treat detainees harshly, the police can torture and commit other cruel treatments, and the police can also commit murder and get impunity. Brazil has definitely violated the rights of its people by allowing the police force to get away with such incredibly illegal actions. The police have physically assaulted detainees, they have tortured many civilians, and they have even killed young children and got away with it. It will be very hard for Brazil to fix this problem because whenever police officers start to get prosecuted, a lot of people die such as the judges, prosecutors, and witnesses because the police force refuses to let any of their team get in trouble. The people of Brazil are having their rights violated by the very people who should be helping protect their human rights. The police in Brazil are corrupt and have no remorse for their people, and that is one of the biggest reasons why the people of Brazil are having their human rights
