The artifact I have chosen to analyze is a letter titled Dear Racists, written by Charlemagne the God in 2015. Charlemagne the God, or Lenard Mckelvey, is a proclaimed TV and radio personality who speaks on behalf of Black Americans. Mckelvey’s letter is directed towards white Americans and its purpose is to make the end of racism start with white Americans denounce racist white Americans. He does this by reminiscing the events of racial injustices across the country. He depicts racist white Americans as “subhuman, savage, pariahs who need to be eliminated from the human race (Mckelvey, 2015, p.1).” I chose this particular artifact because it is extremely relevant to what is happening in America today and it is admirable that the rhetor aims to take action against injustice.…
"The Front is not the whole story of an especially unpleasant piece of American history. It may be faulted for oversimplification. Mr. Ritt and Mr. Bernstein, both veterans of the blacklist, are not interested in subtleties. Yet,…

Untold amounts of what we watch, read, and engage in influence our actions. For example, in the article “Do violent Video Games lead to real violence?” Kim Hone-McMahan declares that video games “help to desensitize kids to violence” (paragraph 13.) By looking at this citation we can see that desensitize means intolerance toward violence. Isabella Sparhawk a senior at St. Vincent St. Mary High School, agrees that “video games aren’t the solitary reason for violent acts, though they do help to desensitize kids to violence” (paragraph 13.) I also agree with Isabella because I believe that kids should not be exposed to violence at a young age. Sure, they can still play video games but the kids shouldn’t play a lot of violent games. I believe this…

My 9-year-old girl came approached me this morning as she often does after waking up. Rubbing her half-closed eyes, she mumbled my name, “Dad…”, “Yes?” I answered with my eyes still glued on PC screen. “Do you know where Orlando is?” My fingers stopped typing. I knew where the question was going to lead. I took some moment, forcing and pushing my brain to come up with appropriate facts and words. Then I looked at her and smiled. “Well, Darling. Orlando is…”…

There is by all accounts a developing rate of adolescent brutality on the planet today, the greater part of which happens in schools. The size of the country's worry about school brutality is reflected in Goal 2010: Educate America Act. It states by the year 2010, each school in America will be free of medications and brutality and will offer a taught situation helpful to learning. No kid or youth should be frightful while in transit to class, be perplexed while there, or need to adapt to weights to make unfortunate decisions (U. S. Branch of Education, 1997). Whenever instructors and understudies stress more over their security than about instruction, they aren't concentrating on educating or learning. Schools where savagery happen causes…
After all, society is to blame because, firstly, children are born without fear and are taught about it through adult experiences or children are exposed to fear and violence at an early age through peers, family situations and societal influences. Therefore, children should be exposed to controlled violence in books which makes it easier for them to have a healthy discussion on their fears and insecurities in the real world.…

One of the most life changing experiences I’ve had happened during Know More program which focuses on youth violence prevention. I never planned on attending this program because I didn’t have any time for anything else other than my exams during finals week. My school counselor insisted and I couldn’t refuse even though I wasn’t excited to spend my weekends out of town with strangers. Back then I didn’t realize it would play a significant role in my personality development.…
Anger and aggressive feelings are unavoidable for all of us - children and adults. These emotions play a big role in early development and cannot be swept under the rug. Anger is an essential part of the human drama. It is as important to psychological growth as love and warmth. As long as angry and aggressive feelings are balanced with feelings of closeness and empathy and are well regulated, they can do us an enormous amount of good. They can energize us and motivate us to do more than we thought possible. They fuel our ambitions, spur us to set goals for ourselves, encourage us to achieve and accomplish. They even help us define our sense of self - who we are and what our boundaries are. My colleague Peter Neubauer has observed that angry and rivalrous feelings often help us differentiate ourselves from others. When you're upset or feeling competitive with someone, you certainly know where you stop and the other person begins. Children need to acknowledge the full range of feelings, including the angry ones, so that these emotions can become part of their evolving sense of themselves. Then they can become integrated people - capable of being competitive as well as nurturing, assertive as well as loving.…
Domestic violence is a term that can be easily defined as violence within the house between the partners. To have a domestic violence case, it does not need to be physical it can be emotional. According to the domestic violence organization (2009), domestic violence is defined as “Domestic violence and emotional abuse are behaviors used by one person in a relationship to control the other. Partners may be married or not married; heterosexual, gay, or lesbian; living together, separated or dating.” Which mean domestic violence can take place in any household it is not just a particular people that it happens to? It also does not matter the race or ethnic background.…
To answer the question if a child is more likely to exhibit aggressive play after watching two hours of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles my answer is yes. I am currently having this issue with my nephews trying to be Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. I gave them the DVD as a Christmas present and I had to take it back within that same week. Every day there were issues with one kicking or punching the other. The media has a big influence on aggressive behavior in society. It can come in the form of promoting video games, movies, or any type of violent shows. I think a big factor in this is that some of the most well-known people in the world are being used to promote this type of behavior. Kobe Bryant is one of the most beloved athletes in the game today by young kids. He also is one of the people advertised in the commercial for the violent video game “Call of Duty”, a game which you score points by killing someone. A young kid sitting at home main purpose to get this game may be just because their favorite basketball player is featured in it. I think the news itself has become one of the biggest role factors in aggressive behaviors. The news has become an advertisement source in its own way for young teens and adults to get the attention they may be lacking to get their violent point across. This past year alone is a prime example. I feel as though the news treated some of these criminals that performed mass murders and killed innocent people like celebrities and movie stars. They had stories and specials on their lives as well as their planned out strategy to perform the killings. There is always some sick person watching the news that wants that same attention and wants to out do what they just saw the news reporting. Not only that the news and media may have just helped the person by explaining where the previous person went wrong. Even though I think the media has an influence on this type of behavior the parents should also be held…
