Pro and Con Violence in the Youth or Games
The topic I choose to explore is video games and if the do indeed effect the minds of our youth and make them violent and begin to make them spread that violence throughout the world. The argument is, “do violent games contribute to youth violence?” and the stance I take is con but I will shows both sides and combat the topic with facts and some opinion based statements. We Cons think there is no clear link or proof that video games are a direct connection to children becoming violent and committing hideous acts. In 2004 the US Secret Service did a review of school attackers and only one-eighth of the had interest in video most had their own things they were into such as violent movies, books, etc. At the same time the Pros will say FBI reported that’s playing violent video games is in a list on behaviors that school attackers conveys.
Video games do not make kids want to go out commit these acts of violence. Video games redirect that hostility that young men have it allows them to have a substitute for fighting and tussling with each other. It actually gives them a stage to compete and battle with each other in a safe manor and at the same time give them rank which gives everything some type of meaning. In 2007 a study showed that 45% of boys who played video games played because it helped them get there anger out and 62% played because it helped them relax. If this is the case how can you say that violent video games are making them become murders and criminals when these kids are using them as a stress tool not as training manual as the Pros want to say there used for.
Pros say that video games can train our children to become killers and that US Marine Corp Licensed Doom II in 1996 to create Marine Doom to train their men. Also in 2002, the US Army put out a first person shooter called America’s Army, which was used to recruit the soldiers and prepare them for
