Executive Summary
This report demonstrates how a Japanese style resort and spa in Hoi An is the best investment option of the year. An increase in the number of middle income and wealthy foreign tourists from Japan alongside an aggressive promotional campaign is creating an urgent demand for services in the area. The services offered by the resort and spa will meet this demand by offering the most in both Vietnamese cultural immersion and Japanese comfort. All guides and service staff will speak Japanese and offer Japanese style amenities. By meeting the needs of this group of clients, we will create a unique and highly profitable enterprise. The number of Japanese tourists in Vietnam is growing rapidly and expected to reach 1 million by 2015 (Dao 2010). In order to meet the rising demand for services this will create it is necessary to offer a unique product in an area of high demand. Japanese tourists are drawn to Vietnam for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. The unique product they seek is a stress free holiday where they can experience the richness Vietnam has to offer without feelings of anxiety or frustration. The rising number of retired and retiring Japanese tourists with expendable incomes and free time alongside a number of promotional activities will create the demand. This report will explain why a Japanese style resort/spa in Hoi An is an excellent low risk investment opportunity.
Research Findings
The number of international tourists visiting Vietnam is increasing steadily. Figures from the general Statistics Office of Vietnam (cited in Vietnam Travel 2009) show the foreign visitors to this country increase by approximately 800% in the 15 year period from 1993 to 2008 (see figure 1).
