Virtual Stock Exchange Debrief Paper
Virtual Stock Exchange Debrief Paper For economic class, all seniors were assigned a project to gain a better understanding of investments in stocks and how quickly stocks may plunge or rise. Thankfully, Mr. Honeywell set the project on Virtual Stock Exchange, which peaked interest in all players because we were all competing for the first place. The starting amount for the virtual stock exchange game was set at $100,000 and that all players must invest about $10,000 per stock. Eagerly to win, all participating students invested in stocks of brand names and random companies. As the game fast forwarded with time, we all learned to do some research before investing in a random stock.
Along the course of the game, certain positions exceed

The performance gap between the first ranked person and me showed how poorly I was doing in terms of investing. For an example, Tesla, known as an American automotive and energy storage company, was doing well and brought in profit to those who invested in it. Until manufacturing issues emerged with the Tesla's supplier, causing a shortage and delayed deliveries. This heavily impacted Tesla Motor, resulting in a gigantic drop in the stocks as well as their profits. I kept my shares from Tesla, thinking that after a couple of days, the overall gains will go from the red to green. However, that was not the case. The Tesla stock continued to drop and did not show a sign of improvement in the near future, forcing many investors, including myself, to sell the stock. Another company that I invested into was Virgin America, a United States-based airline. During March, the stocks of Virgin America did not show any gains, in contrast, it showed a steady decrease in its value. These conditions changed for the airline when a potential buyer approached the company after Virgin America was considering on selling itself. The news of Virgin America selling itself and the approached buyer led to an addition of 13% in its overall gains. A few days later, numerous sources had stated that JetBlue and Alaska Air had submitted bids to buy Virgin America, sending

Stocktrak is a virtual stock market stimulation. Many students set up an account and receive virtual money that can be used for investing in stock, bonds, and mutual funds. After purchasing these investments, you can monitor and trade them as you wish. The site is used by many teachers to get their students familiar with the stock market and its many advantages. In my simulation, I had an individual account and a group account. I was given $100,000 and had a limited number of ten trades. In the group portion, my group was given $100,000 and had a limited number of one hundred trades. The object of the project was to become familiar with and learn the differences of frequent versus long term trading. Another goal of the project…

We worked together on their finance stock market project. We felt that our risk tolerance was different then it normally would be sense we had 500,000 to invest in the stock market compared to our own money. Due to the fact that this was fake money we found ourselves to be conservative as well as risky depending on the situation. We have been given three months to invest money in the stock market as well as with different types of investments such as shorting, limiting, etc and to come out with a positive return. Our strategy was to be in the top tier percentage in the class. We wanted to find stocks that would be unique and not as commonly owned compared to other students in the class. We focused our initial investments on ETF’s as we liked the idea of investing in a group of stocks instead of just one main stock. We also made sure that we had been diversified by investing in as many different sectors of the market as possible.…

Companies and Corporations such as Apple, Johnson and Johnson, Wal-Mart stores profits went down at a high rate, which I was expecting those stocks to do well. Apple Company I invested a quantity of 8 and lost a profit of $846.40. Apple is a well known company and for me to lose money in that particular corporation was much unexpected. Even Wal-Mart who brings in the most money had a losing profit under my stocks. Maybe over a period of time things would’ve changed where the profit would be a gain. Microsoft Corporation was another stock I though I would gain a large amount of money in, when I ended up losing $596.33. Microsoft and…
