ABSTRACT

Malaccamax very large crude oil carriers (VLCCs; crude oil tankers with deadweight of over 200,000 metric tons) are required to comply with a new set of Common Structural Rules (CSRs). They must also have the maximum cargo tank capacity and deadweight, while meeting the principal dimensions restrictions required sailing through the Strait of Malacca, including overall length, breadth, draught, and gross tonnage. This study is carried out to makes an attempt to know about the detailed information of VLCC. Besides, this study also conducted to view the

In the next four to five years, we expect that the demand to be significantly higher than the supply of dry bulk capesizes. The case states that Australia and India will increase their roles in the iron ore industry, which gives one an optimistic view on the future demand of capesize vessels. The production of iron ore in Australia is expected to increase; and the export of iron ore from India is also supposed to rise. This new possibilities for expansion should increase the demand of Ocean Carriers’ dry bulk capesizes and increase the amount of trading volume done by the company around the world. As for supply, the increase in technologies and manufacturing concerning capesizes will surely reduce the number of new vessels that need to be built each year. With the capesize fleet mostly under ten years of age, we do not…

This project was executed by XXX, the Company which I worked for, and the Contractor was the ZZZ. This construction project took place from August 2004 to August 2005. BACKGROUND 2. The main scope of this project was to build two hangar bases for “piranha” motor boats. These hangar bases provided different facilities to military personnel that need some support during their military operations and each one had fuel storage and supply facilities, warehouse, dinning and temporary housing facilities .Thus, it was necessary to build a potable water system, sanitary system, fuel storage and distribution system, air conditioning system, bilge and ballast system, electrical network, including generator set. Hull, deck and roof structure were built on steel structure with different specs and coating schema. Each piranha hangar base weighted 209 tons and had two storeys. 3. The Hull was composed by five pontoons each one of 8 meters length x 1.20 meters width x1.5 meters depth and a main section of 24 meters length x 3.5 meters width x 1.5 meters depth. Each pontoon had a specific function, pontoon number 3 was designed for sewage system, pontoon five was used for ballast system and included sea box. Among oil tankers, supertankers were designed for carrying oil around the Horn of Africa from the Middle East; the FSO Knock Nevis being the largest vessel in the world, a ULCC supertanker formerly known as Jahre Viking (Seawise Giant). It has a deadweight of 565 thousand metric tons and length of about 500 meters. The use of such large ships is in fact very unprofitable, due to the inability to operate them at full cargo capacity; hence, the production of supertankers has currently ceased. Today's largest oil tankers in comparison by gross tonnage are TI Europe, TI Asia, TI Oceania, which are the largest sailing vessels today. But even with their deadweight of 441,585 metric tons, sailing as VLCC most of the time, they do not use more than 70% of their total capacity.…

This remarkable growth in gas demand over the past decade has led to the development and installation of a significant number of gas transportation projects. These baseload projects have focused on the exploitation of relatively large gas reserves, typically 5 Tcf+. [2]. However, the gas markets are now witnessing a structural change, with the emergence of mid markets i.e. regional markets which typically are an aggregate of relatively small gas and LNG trades. Marine CNG has emerged as an alternate to LNG to fulfill the gas demand of these…
