Objective of the test: To work out how much oxygen can be utilized during an intense exercise test, the maximum capacity of oxygen used in the body
Background of the test: The aim of this study was to create and evaluate a submaximal cycle ergometry test based on change in heart rate ( HR) between a lower standard work rate and an individually chosen higher work rate. In a mixed population ( n = 143) with regard to sex (55% women), age (21-65 years), and activity status (inactive to highly active), a model included change in HR per unit change in power, sex, and age for the best estimate of VO2max. Procedures and Equipment: To set up the equipment firstly calibrate the …show more content…
The steps for this is firstly remove the calibration strip from the plastic bag, put the calibration strip into the strip inlet in the test meter, a beep will go off and 888 will appear on the screen. After 2 seconds another beep will go off and function number will on the screen, make that the number that appears matches the number printed on the box and finally put the calibration strip back in the plastic bag. For the rest of the equipment set up it is the same as the VO2 Max Test. In the VO2 Max Test it is explained how to approach this test by doing a PAR Q with the client, measuring the height and weight. Also the equipment is the exact same as the VO2 max test as calibration needs to be done on the mass flow sensor, gas analysers, ECG leads and the mouth piece and nose clips are used in the blood lactate test. Next write the information for the test into the computer which is the warm up time and the workload that is being used. Before the test begins let the client rest on the bike for a minute to get comfortable with the equipment and also to take the clients blood lactate level at rest. After the minute rest the warm up will begin and then the client will go into the exercise test where the workload will be added to the bike. The workload will increase through the test and every 2 minutes in the exercise test the …show more content…
Next apply the polar fitness heart rate monitor to the client, for the polar fitness heart rate you need to put in the subject’s weight, height, gender and date of birth to ensure that the reading will be correct. Strap the monitor around the client’s chest, just below the client’s chest muscles. The test will be done on the lifefitness TR 9500HR fully featured treadmill. Next tell the client to take their place on the treadmill, start the treadmill and increase the speed and incline every 2 minutes until the client reaches their maximum heart rate. Take the client’s heart rate every minute while there on the treadmill until they reach maximum heart rate, taking a record of each heart rate. To get the clients max heart minus their age from 220. ( Tanaka,H. Monahan,K. Seals,D. . (2001). ) When the client reaches their maximum heart rate stop the treadmill and place the oximeter on the client and measure how long it takes for the client heart rate to drop back down to normal. Making sure to record their heart rate every
