Vodafone CSR
Vodafone is the largest telecommunication company in Europe and the second largest after China Mobile in the world. The company did the first mobile call at UK at the beginning of 1985. Since that time, company user base grown to 453 million subscribers as of June 2013. “Vodafone owns and operates networks in 21 countries and has partner networks in over 40 additional countries. Its Vodafone Global Enterprise division provides telecommunications and IT services to corporate clients in over 65 countries.” The company employs more than 90 thousand people as of 2013. Vodafone is the third-largest company listed on the London Stock Exchange. “It had a market capitalisation of approximately £89.1 billion as of 6 July 2012.” Its net income was £429 million in 2013.

The Vodafone business model is driven by morals. The corporate passions are their customers, their people, the results and the world around them. This describes how they interact with society and the environment. Vodafone is dedicated to these goals, which celebrate the importance of corporate responsibility within the Vodafone business strategy. They also have a set of Business Principles which set out the corporate and individual behaviours they should follow in their routine business. Vodafone is involved in the execution of their eight key CSR initiatives which are inline with millenium development goals suggested by United Nations in 2000.

To make certain CSR remains a top priority for the business, they have developed strong CSR management structures and systems. Social, environmental and ethical issues are also incorporated into the Vodafone risk management processes. CSR-related policies were agreed to at the UK Policy Committee, chaired by the CEO. CSR-related issues are also a regular agenda item at monthly executive committee meetings at Vodafone. The growth of this mobile telecom giant has been rapid.
