“ Mom what day are we moving, I still have a lot to pack”, Sheila asked while she had been packing her bags.
“ I think tomorrow, that’s the only day your dad and I are off,” said her mom as she was packing her things too.
It had been the next day and Sheila didn’t really care if she moved because she didn’t really know anyone and she was more excited to move than to not move. Weeks had past and her parents and her had went around the neighborhood meeting them and Sheila didn’t want to. “ Why do I have to go, it’s going to be boring and I don’t think anyone wants to meet me”, complained Sheila. But Sheila still went. While they were going to the last house they had heard a loud “boom”. “ What was that mom,

They had arrived home and Sheila had turned on the news while her mom turned on the radio and her dad had asked other people in the neighborhood about the noise. Sheila had seen a volcano on the news as soon as she turned it on and she heard what they were saying. “Mom it was a volcano, they say it just erupted and it was coming slow that it was coming 5 to 10 yards an hour”, Sheila said while she was still listening.
“ Then we probably have enough time to get out of this place,” said my mom while she listened closely to the radio.
Sheila had gathered the information that she heard on the news on a notebook because she knew she was going to forget everything. Then after a while Sheila’s dad had came back and Sheila was in her room while her parents had been talking. Sheila had been confused because she was scared and she didn’t really know what they were going to do next. After a while Sheila’s parents had called her and she didn’t know what to expect. “ We have to hurry and get prepared before we leave, there is no time,” said Sheila’s mom as she was packing food supplies and bottle of

Her parents were confused too because they weren’t sure where to go. They had been driving for an hour already and Sheila had been really bored because she didn’t have anything to do. They had arrived and they were in the hotel.
“ How long are we going to be staying here for,” questioned Sheila while she was getting out of the car.
“ Just for a while, until we see that the volcano has calmed down,” said Sheila’s mom while she was walking into the lobby to pay. Sheila had been watching the news on the computer because she didn’t have anything else to do in the hotel. A couple of days had past and they had heard nothing from the news until the next day.
“ Mom look, they say we can come back to our homes,” Sheila said excitedly because she was so bored at the hotel. When they were on their way home Sheila had been grateful that her family had been okay. Sheila had hoped her new house had been okay and her new neighbors.
“ Do you think our house and our neighbors are going to be okay,” Sheila asked curiously.
“ I’m not sure honey, try not to worry,” said Sheila’s mom. It had been a long drive when they got home. There had been fences broken and the grass looked horrible but the house wasn’t to bad
“ Look at the fence!” exclaimed Sheila,” but at least it wasn’t super

“We’ll see,” she answered. All of us kids worked frantically to unpack the car and put the luggage in each person’s bedroom of the house they were staying at. We stayed on my Grandfathers (Grandtom) properties when in Cape May. He had a large Victorian house (called 909) for him and my Grandmother (Granddot) and their guests and next door was a smaller but still grand Victorian house (called 907) for his children and their families and friends- that is where I stayed. There was a tennis court behind GrandToms house and a large garage with a one bedroom apartment above behind…

    All Shook Up

"Not again!" I protested when I heard Mom's news. "Where are we going this time?" We've moved six times in the twelve years since I was born. That's because my Dad's job is to set up offices for his company, and each time he finishes establishing a new one, we move. "California," said Mom. "I'm sorry we have to uproot you again." She opened a map and pointed out the town we'd be moving to, north of San Francisco. She truly sounded sorry, but I could see she was pleased, too, because she's from California. She'd always said Chicago was too noisy for her. For one thing, the elevated railway wasn't far from our apartment. Whenever the trains rumbled past, the chandelier in our living room swung to and fro. My stomach felt full of cold lead. You'd think I'd be used to moving, but I felt sick every time. Now I'd have to say good-bye once more to the friends and places I'd just come to feel comfortable with. Plus, Chicago was the most exciting place we'd lived. It had everything—great parks, libraries, museums, skating rinks, and playing fields. Only five blocks from home was the Youth Center, where I played volleyball or board games or just hung out joking around with friends. That day, after learning the news, I went straight to the Youth Center to find my friends. Their smiles turned into gloomy frowns when I said I'd be leaving in a few weeks. We grumbled about my bad luck. Finally, Eric said, "Moaning and groaning isn't going to change anything. Can anyone say something good about this move?" Sarah piped up, "Well, Megan…you'll be lying on a warm beach while we're still slogging through the snow." I pictured myself lazing on a stretch of white sand, a gentle blue sea rocking before me and palm trees rustling behind me. I could go for that. "Just think," added Josh, "no freezing rain or sub-zero temperatures." "No tornados. No blizzards," contributed Kayla. "Just lovely, sunny days." "Yeah. All you have to worry…
