Introduction

Volleyball is a popular sport, which is played both indoors and outdoors. It appeals to people of all ages and skill levels. It is fast paced, with constant jumping and running, and thus provides a strenuous aerobic workout. It also requires mental alertness and quick, precise physical reactions.

History of Volleyball

Volleyball originated in Massachusetts in 1895 when the director of a local YMCA used the bladder of a basketball for a ball and a tennis net as the first volleyball net. The game was regulated by the YMCA until 1928 when the United States Volleyball Association was founded

How Volleyball is played

The name "volleyball" is not an entirely accurate description of this sport. The object of the game is to hit the ball over the net in such a way that the opposing team cannot return it.

Volleyball is played on a court 30 ft. wide by 60 ft. long. The net is 3 ft. high and spans the width of the playing area. The top of the net is positioned 8 ft. (men's) from the floor or playing surface. The modern volleyball is about the size of a soccer ball.

The game is played by two opposing teams, with six players on each team. Once the ball is put into play, it is "volleyed" back and forth between the teammates up to three times before it is hit over the net or until it falls on the floor, is hit out of bounds or a team commits a foul. The same

I signed up for volleyball. I have only had two practices. Hitherto, I acquired the skills of passing the ball, serve overhand, and set the ball. I failed to attend the first practice. As a result, I do not know how to properly serve underhand. Practice is every Friday night from six “o” clock to six forty-five at Anderson Farm Park. Moreover drills, we play games. One game I relish is where a person serves the ball to the other side of the net and tries to hit someone. If they are not successful, they have to sit were the ball landed. If they do strike someone, they earn a point. Volleyball is an enjoyable experience.…

Flag Football is a version of American or Canadian football. It is very popular worldwide. The basic rules of the game are similar to those of the mainstream game that is often called tackle football but instead of tackling players to the ground the defensive team must remove a flag or flag belt form the ball carrier “ de flagging” to end a down. Other rules are you can have a minimum of five players. No jewelry or things like that that would get in the way. All pads and braces must be worn above the waist. Bare feet are not allowed you must wear tennis shoes or rubber cleats. Cleats with metal are not okay if you do wear them you won’t be able to play. There are no set uniforms but you have to tuck in your shirt or jersey. You don’t need a ball or bat or racket of any kind to play this game. You just need flag belts. They are like a belt that you can clip or snap on to your body. They have flags hanging down that allow other players to pull off of you. They have to be visible to the other players. That is why their shirt has to be tucked in. Free kicks are not aloud in flag football only punting and it can not be quick punting that is not aloud either. Touchdowns are the biggest way to get points just like in American football. It gives the team six points. Each team is aloud two one minute time out period per half. The game can go from about one to two hours long. It is played all over the United States. There can be anywhere from as little of four to eleven or twelve players on each team. It is one of the only sports that can be played with both male and female on the field at one time. Or they can have their own games. The sport has a strong amateur following and several nation and international competitions each year sponsored by various associations and companies. People take it very seriously but the game is also played just for fun. There are also festivals such as the International Flag Football Festival organizes…

Basketball was invented in December 1891 by the Canadian clergyman, educator, and physician James Naismith. Naismith introduced the game when we were an instructor at the Young Men's Christian Association Training School (now Springfield College) in Springfield, Massachusetts. At the request of his superior, Dr. Luther H. Gulick, he organized a vigorous recreation suitable for indoor winter play. The game involved elements of American football, soccer, and hockey, and the first ball used was a soccer ball. Teams had nine players, and the goals were wooden peach baskets affixed to the walls. By 1897-1898, teams of five became standard. The game rapidly spread nationwide and to Canada and other parts of the world, played by both women and men; it also became a popular informal outdoor game. U.S. servicemen in World War II (1939-1945) popularized the sport in many other countries.…

When the game was first created there weren't really any rules on how the game was supposed to be played, now there are rules that players must obey. Those rules have changed over the years, though the basics have stayed relatively the same. For example, when playing there is a certain number of players allowed on each team that can be playing at once. And when a player is eliminated from the game, he is only able rejoin the game if it doesn't exceed the number of players allowed on the court at one time. Also, when players reenter the game, they must do so in the same order that they were eliminated in.…

Imagine you are in a dark, deserted, brick alleyway. A night owl hoots in the distance. Your phone just died and you are ten miles away from home. You are bored out of your mind because you cannot think of anything to do. Zing! A motorcycle coughing black smoke streaks by, but does not notice you. No one is walking by because the dingy, damp alleyway you are stranded in is not a place anyone wants to be. It is so quiet you could hear a pin drop. If you have a ball, you could play volleyball with the wall, but only if you know how. In this situation, you would wish with all your heart that you knew how to play volleyball. You can learn how by using my challenging, but accurate process to bump, underhand serve, and…

Beach volleyball has two people on each side of the court. The players wear goggles to protect their eyes from sand, and they don’t wear shoes of any kind. The sand causes resistance and doesn’t give a firm surface to push off when jumping, so the players are not as quick moving around the court, and must use a greater effort when jumping to block or spike the ball. As a result, they tire much more quickly. The smaller number of players makes the game move faster, since each individual must cover a much larger area of the court. Often times, the players are not able to move fast enough and get to the ball, causing the ball to drop and giving the point to the other team.…

Diving on the ground to get the ball up, setting the ball outside, and having your hitter slam the ball into the opponents side of the court. That is what volleyball is all about and why I have such a love for the game. I am here to tell you about why this sport is so important to me and also why it plays a very big role in my life. Basketball is a sport played by two teams of five players on a rectangular court. The objective is to shoot a ball through a hoop 18 inches in diameter and 10 feet high mounted to a backboard at each end. A team can score a field goal by shooting the ball through the basket during regular play. A field goal scores two points for the shooting team if a player is touching or closer to the basket than the three-point line, and three points if the player is behind the three-point line. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, but additional time may be issued when the game ends with a draw.…
