Volleyball Team: A Fictional Narrative
“it seems like a lot you are having to take on to get a volleyball team and I know how much you want to play volleyball! I hope you know that I am extremely proud of you for trying to do this but is there anything that I can help with? and maybe we could look and see if Allie could ride the bus to Jackson’s daycare after school so she isn't bothering you she doesn't know that yet and dad and I will be the one to tell her but so that it could just be you and Brady for a while after school and then at like 4 or so whenever you get your homework done you guys could walk over and get Allie and Jackson? What do you think about that?” I smiled at her and said
“That sounds great and I don't think that you can do anything to help for at least right now but I will for sure let you know if I ever need help thank you so much, mom! Love you sleep good!”

“Yes”
“ Okay, goodnight Belle I love you see you in the morning!” My mom says to me I just smile at her and say goodnight.

Chapter 4
I wake up the next morning and I look outside to see what the weather is like so I can determine what I'm going to wear to school today I wasn't sure but I was thinking skinny jeans and a three-quarter length sleeve shirt with a scarf and ugg boots. After I said that out loud that is what I was going to wear. In my sophomore year, I decided to try out for the tennis team. I was confident of my status as the new athlete in the Dominion High School tennis team. After the week long try outs, I was given the disappointing news that I had not made the team. I was very disappointed but that did not stop me from continuing to work hard and work on my mistakes. Adversity comes in all shapes and sizes, varying from person to person. We are all faced with different challenges to overcome and different obstacles to face. In the spring of 2016, the UNA Softball team faced many challenges before becoming National Champions. From beginning to end, the Lady Lions did not have it so easy, as many thought it seemed. It was a frigid, windy, Friday night in October. The only light was the bright and beaming illumination of the stadium lights projecting over the soccer field. The bleachers were full, it seemed as if the whole school was there, and as a freshman with anxiety, it made it hard to cope with the fact, that I was going to be a starter for the varsity soccer team.…

It was winter season and that meant basketball. This year was special because I got to play for Davidson Day’s seventh and eight-grade team. See at our school the middles school ran through 5th to 8th. The middle school basketball teams were divided into a 5th-6th-grade team and a 7th 8th grade team. This season was different; we would play more games and different teams. Also we got a new coach and older teammates. Tryouts were rough; the older kids were picking on the 7th graders constantly. I was the only one they liked because I was good. The season got even worse. The 7th graders never played in the games and sometimes in the locker room older kids would yell at us for messing up. This was horrible to watch and be apart of.…

I don’t know exactly where I am going. Maybe this comes as a shock to those who think that because someone has good grades, they have their live figured out. It astonishes me just how mistaken this view is. Being born in Cuba I was limited as to what options I had for my life path. Consequently, the transition from one country to another when I was just twelve years old was very frustrating and tough. Somehow I managed to get a grasp of the language and progressively ascend from the lowest English classes to the most advanced in my school. I never failed to be hard on myself though, and I apply this concept to almost everything I do. However, this way of thinking has not come at no cost. My thinking process can be quite obsessive at times.…

Whenever I think back to highschool I am always reminded of the fun times I had playing sports. The friendships I built and diciplines I learned still affect my life today. Playing volleyball helped me learn good time management skills especially when I started playing for the local club team. The highschool team was demanding but when club season started that became your life. School, practice, homework, sleep was my weekday schedule. The weekend tournaments didn’t allow for much of a break either. A minimum of 4 matches and if you won the bracket, you could expect atleast 2 more. Putting in hard work and dedicating countless hours wasn’t all for nothing though.…

I sat there, riding home from a football game finding myself spacing off thinking about basketball. basketball is starting soon and i cant help thinking about getting to play varsity. I miss the smell of the gym right before a basketball game and the feel of the basketball grooves. I actually kind of miss the bad tasting water from the school water fountain. One thing that I miss the most about basketball is the feeling of trying your hardest and succeeding at it.…

“Beep…beep…beep…” yelled my alarm notifying me that it was finally time for me to raise out of bed. Even though it was only six o’clock in the morning, my mood instantly brightened when I looked at my phone calendar and instinctively remembered that today was my final first volleyball game of the season. Quickly, I stumbled out of bed to go brush my teeth and begin getting ready for what would end up being my last day of playing volleyball.…

It was a chilly morning on the day of August 17 of 2015. Gray cotton balls covered the sky and a thin blanket enveloped the air. Faintly, little blue spots could be seen as the the sun came up from the horizon. Little did I know that today was going to be a manic monday. The alarm clock was blaring. BEEP. BEEP. Yawn. “Today is the day. High school tryouts,” I thought.…
