Volunteering this semester has enabled me to potentially make a positive impact in the lives of those who I come into contact with on Pediatrics at the Regina General Hospital. In my first two weeks of volunteering, I have already had many incredible opportunities to learn about what roles nurses, physicians, and how other support staff collaborate in aiding the healing process for the children.
The First Experience
During my first shift, I was going about cleaning up the playroom, when one of the nurses popped in to ask me if I could comfort a patient during a minor procedure. I had heard music coming from the room when I first showed up. There are safety measures in place that require all volunteers to wear an isolation
