In 1914, the first great international conflict known as World War 1 crippled the nations all around the globe as they were forced into a destructive battle after years of tension. A majority of countries sorted themselves into two alliances; The Triple Alliance with Germany, Austria-hungry and Italy and The Triple Entente with France, Russia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Japan and nations in the British Empire. The armies battled against each other brutally for four years before signing a treaty, and in the end, the whole conflict proved to have little benefit for each of the alliances. World War 1 had devastating and severe effects on all of the members involved, such as the Australian soldiers who fought in Gallipoli.
