My Goals and Walden University Vision and Mission Nursing education is not just a job for me. Rather, it is my calling, and I approach each day with boundless enthusiasm for the profession. My goal is to achieve a higher level of knowledge and ability in the realm of nursing education, ready to raise the quality of nursing in Grenada. For years, I have insistently tried to cultivate the qualities that make for both an exceptional nurse and a highly effective educator. However, I seek greater professional maturity, fresh insight into clinical problem-solving and new tools for conveying challenging concepts to my students. I was first attracted to Walden University, because it comprises the essential link between my present strengths and my aspirations. Furthermore, their mission and vision statement, and their goals cemented that attraction; in particular their mission statement, which is to “provide a diverse community of career professionals with the opportunity to transform themselves as scholar-practioners so that they can effect positive social change” (Walden University, 2013a). This statement is in keeping with my professional goals. Grenada’s health care sector requires more innovative thinking from educators and practioners alike. I want to devote my career to designing creative methods for preparing health care professionals to face the myriad challenges awaiting them in the field.
