Sal hates her new home. She hates that it isn’t Bybanks, her previous home. She hates that there isn’t any farm animals, the close proximity of the houses in her neighborhood, and the small amount of trees and grass. Upon getting there, Sal says, “No trees? This is where we’re going to live? (page 1).” Sal figures out that this house is Margaret’s, but her house isn’t much different.
