2. Think Wal-Mart was successful in Mexico because they were able to change to match the shopping experience for consumers in Mexico. They hired the locals to be managers and workers, which was a plus since they knew what consumers were looking for. The people of Mexico are not in the best economic standing, so it was good that they were able to lower prices to match the income of the consumers.
3. Wal-Mart failed in South Korea and Germany because the consumers already had stores that matched their shopping needs and wants. Wal-Mart did not have the higher standards in products that the consumers were used to purchasing. They did not research the purchase habits; if they would have they would have known that South Korea and Germany’s consumers have a higher standard of living.
4. I think Wal-Mart will succeed in China. They realized that the Chinese were similar to Americans as such that they like a bargain. They learned that the consumers liked to have their food fresh even if it means to live fish or turtles available for consumers to pick out themselves.
