Walpurgis Night Monologue
WHY, thank you so much. I'd adore to.
I don't want to dance with him. I don't want to dance with anybody. And even if I did, it wouldn't be him. He'd be well down among the last ten. I've seen the way he dances; it looks like something you do on Saint Walpurgis Night. Just think, not a quarter of an hour ago, here I was sitting, feeling so sorry for the poor girl he was dancing with. And now I'm going to be the poor girl. Well, well. Isn't it a small world? And a peach of a world, too. A true little corker. Its events are so fascinatingly unpredictable, are not they? Here I was, minding my own business, not doing a stitch of harm to any living soul. And then he comes into my life, all smiles and city manners, to sue me for the favor of one

Maybe it's best not to make a scene. I guess I'll just lie low, and watch the pace get him. He can't keep this up indefinitely -- he's only flesh and blood. Die he must, and die he shall, for what he did to me. I don't want to be of the over-sensitive type, but you can't tell me that kick was unpremeditated.
Freud says there are no accidents. I've led no cloistered life, I've known dancing partners who have spoiled my slippers and torn my dress; but when it comes to kicking, I am Outraged Womanhood. When you kick me in the shin, smile.
Maybe he didn't do it maliciously. Maybe it's just his way of showing his high spirits. I suppose I ought to be glad that one of us is having such a good time. I suppose I ought to think myself lucky if he brings me back alive. Maybe it's captious to demand of a practically strange man that he leave your shins as he found them. After all, the poor boy's doing the best he can. Probably he grew up in
- 3 - the hill country, and never had no larnin'. I bet they had to throw him on his back to get shoes on him.
Yes, it's lovely, isn't it? It's simply lovely. It's the loveliest waltz. Isn't it? Oh, I think it's lovely, too.
Why, I'm getting positively drawn to the Triple Threat here. He's my hero. He

I guess I'm as well off here.
As well off as if I were in a cement mixer in full action.
I'm past all feeling now. The only way I can tell when he steps on me is that I can hear the splintering of bones. And all the events of my life are passing before my eyes. There was the time I was in a hurricane in the West Indies, there was the day
I got my head cut open in the taxi smash, there was the night the drunken lady threw a bronze ashtray at her own true love and got me instead, there was that summer that the sailboat kept capsizing. Ah, what an easy, peaceful time was mine, until I fell in with Swifty, here. I didn't know what trouble was, before I got drawn into this danse macabre. I think my mind is beginning to wander. It almost seems to me as if the orchestra were stopping. It couldn't be, of course; it could never, never be. And yet in my ears there is a silence like the sound of angel voices. . . .
Oh they've stopped, the mean things. They're not going to play any more. Oh, darn.
Oh, do you think they would? Do you really think so, if you gave them twenty dollars? Oh, that would be lovely. And look, do tell them to play this same thing.
I'd simply adore to go on

Awakening from the torment, the pain, and suffering caused by the most traumatizing series of events in my life, I decided to push through and prove to myself that I can overcome anything. Although my head was throbbing from the colossal blow, I managed to convince myself that it was time to find a way back home to safety, but let us focus on how I got to that point. It was the last lesson of the afternoon, an extremely informative one regarding poetry. We had just completed the analysis of the poem, ‘Overcoming Obstacles’ by Gerry Legister and were ready to leave to go and celebrate my friend, Bella’s 18th Birthday. My Mom called me to say, rather abruptly, that she was working late and could not pick me up and drop me off at Bella’s lovely home.…

His short black hair, that was previously gelled flat, now stands on end. He looks at me with wild eyes, daring me to lie. I don't know what else to say so I tell the honest truth, “I was playing with a knife and Aito-kun began screaming and running away from me, so I chased him, all for good fun, and then he just stopped and I stabbed him.” Matsuo-sensei, the principle of _ Junior High, is speechless. What do you say to someone who just accidentally murdered someone else?…

Within this poem is a lovely array of splendid imagery that allows the reader to truly feel as if they were there experiencing the memory themselves. Death is not something I would wish upon anyone but myself. It’s not something to be longed for, and it’s not something I’d force someone into. At least, not who I am now. Death is a cold hand gripping my neck, my arms, my torso, pinning me down.…

As I looked down from the helicopter I could see a sea of chaos. I jump out and land on my pedals. I slightly rolled my tarsal but I wasn't gonna let that stop me. As I got closer to the scene my nasal could not take the smell of Pyrodex propellant, and blood. I search the desert wasteland with my orbitals to see if anyone was in need of immediate attention. Then I spotted a wounded soldier, with the weight of medical supplies wrapped around my coxal. I ran towards him in short breaths. But when I get a better view of the extremity of his injuries my muscles tense up and my breathing stops altogether. This was my first day on the job.…

What I like most about him is that unlike that evil fairy that never made the beauty girl happy, whenever he came over the beautiful girl would always laugh and have fun. Every time I see them having fun and meeting up I wish that I had a prince to call my own.…

I was so tired, even attempting to keep my eyes open was a struggle. My whole body was achy after a hard day’s of school work, constantly staring at a computer screen and typing away, just to finish an essay. My pale white hands, frozen by the air conditioning blasting on high, were holding on to the steering wheel like a person gripping the edge of a cliff, hoping not to fall into a dark abyss. My brain wanted to give in, to remain in the sleep that I kept dangerously drifting in and out of. I took a look outside, the road looking meek. The rows if brush hoars any objects spattered off the road by vehicles in the August sun. It felt like I was going around in a circle, my tires skating around the bends and turns of the road. I felt maybe I should slow down so I do not lose…

It is human nature to forget the passing of time; however, each minute reminds of the most infamous killer and his forever forward-march, one only becoming aware of him when there is no time left. In his poem “Lying in a Hammock at William Duffy’s Farm in Pine Island, Minnesota” James Wright explores the aspect of how easily one can lose track of time. He creates, at first glance, a warm, peaceful scenery that would be wonderous to view; however, the speaker reveals in a shocking statement, “I have wasted my life” leaving the reader with a sense of astonishment at this self-deprecating slur (13). When rereading the poem knowing that the speaker sees the scene with a sense of dread reimagines what was once previously perceived as tranquil and fulfilling to now becoming full of pain and despair. While it is easy to overlook the speakers use of the directional terms “over”, “right”, and “down”, they are…
