Isolation has a huge impact on a person’s life because humans rely on the company. Whitman uses the technique called alliteration in the line “vacant vast surrounding,” to put a larger emphasis the feeling of loneliness. The mood of this poem is helpless, lonely, and desperate, but at the same time, strangely hopeful because of the spider’s determination to find a connection. This delicate and simple spider represents the common emotion that human’s feel when they are lonely and have no one with whom to connect.
Moreover, In line 5, Whitman talks about patience and it is a key to everything. People need to have patience so the problems fade away with time. Time is the essence of happiness. In the poem the spider detects a silver lining somehow and he still has hope to overcome his grief. The image of patience gets in the poem, but not in a direct way. The author uses the spider as an image of a human being. In line 4, the author emphasized the recurrence of the word ‘’filament’’ ,the speaker illustrates the constant effort of the
