Wang Lung In The Good Earth
People in any epoch of time go through wonderful and tragical times. In Pearl S Buck’s novel, The Good Earth, she describes what every human goes through. Wang Lung, the main character, goes through many events in his life. He starts as a very poor farmer, but eventually with hard work he works his way up. Many characters face many events like Wang lung. Although the conflicts are terrible Wang Lung still overcomes them.

In the novel Wang gets married and celebrates for his marriage. What makes it better is that he has a first born son! Wang Lung so far very successful in life, but everything changes when his second son and daughter is born. Once they are born Wang’s land is in a terrible drought, and is forced to move South.     Shen Fu was a Chinese writer and art dealer who lived during the Qing Dynasty. He had a very strong love for his wife Chen Yun and she is the inspiration for his book “Six Records of a Floating Life”, which vividly describes their life and love together.
