Want I Expect to Learn in My English Class

When I was in high school, I had to take some type of comprehension test every year. I guess it was for students who were registered as English being there second language. I never really understood the concept of understanding what I am reading or writing. When I was in high school the only books I had read were the “Hungry Games” and “A Child Called It”. Other than that I never really read anything else. During my last year of high school my English class read some Shakespeare book. Shakespeare was probably the most difficult reading I have ever done. I hardly understood what I was reading. Reading Shakespeare probably did not have much of a great impact in my reading since I did not understand anything. Before I registered for any classes in college, I had to take an assessment to see what math and English I would be placed in. My results came back Basic English and math. I never really understood what was wrong with my reading and writing since none of my high school teachers sat down and explained to me. All I really got from them was a grade on my paper. Coming to college pretty much changed my way of seeing things. The way I see things now is if you don’t try your hardest to strive for the best you won’t get to where you want to be. I also noticed that if you want to do something right you have to speak to your professor during office hours, after class or attend tutoring sessions. In my English 28 class, I would hope to learn how to recognize grammar errors. I would like to improve my writing skills and learn MLA format. In this course, I would like to improve my reading and comprehension skills. I’d like to read and write at a college level. I would like to prepare myself for English 101. I’d like to achieve a better understanding of how to properly write an essay and put things in order. In English 28, I hope to read a lot. I hope to understand how an outline can easily be turned into an essay. I hope to achieve better writing skills. I would also
