Warfare is one of the themes of this poem, war is not kind and it is mean. War takes away families it makes them lose their loved ones. All what war is, is nothing but lose and heartbreak it only cause bad stuff to happen. No matter how bad wars are they will always happen as it says in line 18“These men were born to drill and die.” ,meaning there will always be people to fight. Eventhough home is not on the battlefield and it could be miles away doesn't mean it doesn't affected by war. The home is place filled with the children, the maiden, the loved ones. The home is missing there role model, there father, and the person they love. The home could also have a missing spot of the son and brother. The family inside the home dies not know if that person is coming home or if there still alive. In the poem it says “Because your lover threw wild hands toward the sky” which means that this home just lost a loved one and he is on his way to heaven. War doesn't just take the lives of the loved ones it destroys the homes and lives inside
