The Geneva protocol convened which called together 140 countries from all over the world, this meeting was called for the prohibition of the poisonous or other gases like mustard gas. When these 140 countries had signed this treaty then they could not use poisonous gases and it would not be used against them in war. Chemical warfare had to be banned because it had taken so many lives of the men and it also harmed the innocent who did not fight in the war, it was gas so it lingered and was easily dispersed. “The widespread use of gas in World War I, causing possibly 1.3 million casualties and 100,000 deaths engendered almost universal abhorrence for gas warfare.” The way in which people fight now has changed since technology has advanced a lot since 1917. The aircrafts have much improved and so instead of manning flying instruments armed forces now use drones to deliver the bullet and correctly identify the enemy so there is no mistaking for killing the wrong person and risking a soldier's life. Technology in every way has much improved, the medical equipment and medicines, and the use of bomb sniffer dogs have saved the lives of hundreds of soldiers. Now if a soldier is stuck with a bullet, or injured in anyway they can quickly be sent off in a medevac and be treated relatively quickly, and either be sent home safely or return to the battlefield. Infections no longer cause amputations or death, they too can be treated with advancing medicine. And the dogs who are trained to sniff out bombs can help to save lives, if there are hidden mines or bombs nearby, often times the dog can safely find and point it out without anyone getting injured, however if someone was going to be injured it would be the dog and not a
